I am installing inserts on my 99 Si, and need to drop the motor a bit to get the torque mount out.

I have to loosen up the driver side top mount to lower it but my PS line is in the way. I have no way to access it.




I can get the one on the right (in this pic) using an extension, but the not the one on the left.

What should I do?

take off the PS pump. That is what I had to do on my old civic.

Common sense, take out whats in the way PS.

Well how do I go about doing that? What screws/nuts do I have to remove to take off the pump? I don't wanna disconnect any lines because it will make a mess.

Just look at where it connects!. 16 or 14mm i forgot.

You are going to have to disconnect the Power Steering belt which is super easy. I've never worked on a B-series engine before so can someone help this gentleman?

remove the bolts from the PS pump and just move it to the side

two bolts that come in from the side. Take 'em out.
The the silver wing nut looking bolt needs to come off too if I remember right. Once that's all done the pump comes off no problem.

Okay I'm not to familiar with the PS pump so let me get a pic and maybe you guys can show me the bolts you are talking about. BRB

Remove the PS pump or use a wrench instead of a socket.

it's the very top thing on the front of your engine.
That hose that's in your way.....that goes to your PS pump. Follow that.
Then look on the left hand side of that bracket that holds the pump in place. You can figure it out from there.

Razr2, whoa, there are other options before removing youe PS and making a mess of things.

how about a swivel adapter, have you tried that? you can get to it with a swivel adapter and a extension.

then there is alittle elbow grease, you can bend the hard line just alittle to clear what you need.

Thats what I was thinking. I'd rather do that and not make a mess.

Where can I get a swivel adapter, and do you think it would fit under it? Not much clearance there? I'm gonna go try using an open end wrench and see if I can get it in there.

unless you have a opened end wrench that acts like a socket wrench and is jointed, i would avoid using it since it's pointless too. as for the swivel, you can pick them up at any parts store for a couple of bucks. they according to your wrench.

yeah you can bend the line alittle to get it where you need (whether it's up, down, left, or right). the eg lines are alittle different, so i don't have to go through your problem.

to do it like everyone else is saying, you would have to release the tension on the belt, slide it out, unbolt the pump from the motor yet still keep the line attached.
to much work if you ask me.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and suggest something different... how about you jack the engine up by the oil pan a little bit just to get the weight off the mounts on that side. Then move the PS fluid reservoir, unbolt the bracket for the reservoir, and then unbolt the spaceship mount and slide it out of the way. That way the motor can move down and you don't have to F with the PS pressure line.

I just used an extension and bent the hose a little bit.

no it's more than 2 bolts and to much work is involved. i'm taking it your new to Honda stuff.

agreed! i double checked my pressure line and it's quite bendable. atleast bendable enough to fit what's needed to get the job done.

he's going to have to do this anyway because the motor need support once the mount is moved.

It'll take 5 minutes... I have done it numerous times before. Removing the AC compressor, now that is a pain in the ****.

get some rags, support the engine then, remove the line, it only 2 bolts, do what you have to do then put the line back on, it not that hard, maybe a little messy but come your working on a car you are gonna get a little dirty
