Bogging and Ticking
My wife's EM1 had a chipped valve.
I took off the head, took the head to a shop, got a new valve installed, put the head back on, adjusted the valves, and put everything back together. The car starts up fine, idles pretty good at 1000rpms after adjusting the idle screw but bogs like a mother[freak]er. When revving it at the throttle body, the rpms actually drop when I pop it. But when I hold it down, it revs up fine (after the bog).
There is also a slight ticking coming from near the power steering. I don't have the outside nut on that holds the header to the block cuz it got lost. So I'm not sure if the ticking is the valve (which was perfectly adjusted to .006) or if it is a little exhaust leak.
I put the car on the ground and drove it around the crescent and it makes zero power, it bogs so f'ing bad.
Help?

Is your CEL on? Did you adjust the timing after putting it all back together? I'm referring to both crank and ignition timing.

the ticking should be valve noise... which is normal. as for the bogging... im not sure, but maybe check your dizzy and make sure its not advanced or retarded, or that your cams are TDC

Re: Bogging and Ticking (unsungfate)
There is no CEL. The ticking is rather loud (just above the normal level) and it goes away when I disconnect the fuel injector in cylinder 1. I took the injectors in to an injector shop and did a bench test on all of them...they are all perfect. I'm stumped and would love to know what your suggestions are. If I can get my hands on another injector harness I will try that.
If there was a smiley for pulling out my hair I would put it here!
Thanks!

Re: Bogging and Ticking (Mister V)
The timing was lined up at the crank and at the cams when I put it back together. And the car actually holding an idle would indicate that, shouldn't it? I'm not sure. Anyhow...I've tried adjusting the timing at the dizzy and have found that nothing works. Advancing, nor retarding. When I retard it the car stalls out. When I advance it, the idle gets a bit stronger and healthier sounding but still makes no power when I drive it.

No after market cams either. I've only driven it up to about 3k rpms and it is really loud and deep sounding, and makes hardly any power, and jerks like it's going to stall. If I missed any connectors it would throw a CEL, no?
Oh yeah, the fuel filter is quite new, I've tried swapping spark plug wires, I'm totally stumped.

Any help here?
I disconnected the mid pipe from the header. It didn't bog as much, but still stutters and jerks when accelerating. I don't have a cat, I replaced it with a resonator because it got clogged a few months ago. Could the O2 sensor be screwing up? Would that throw a code? Still no CELs.
