BMW HID retro and BI-xenon pictures
 

Guys, i just wanted share some of the photos me and my brother took.

My bro retro'd in some projectors from a BMW 740IL into his 2000 civic SI. Wonderful results. Its honestly impossible for me to describe in words how awesome the output is. Some picts of his:

After seeing his results, i wanted to do something just like his. I wanted to go a step farther and buy some bi-xenon projectors to keep the high beams. I also have purchased some aftermarket projectors, because the stock headlamps have "fluted" lenses which would cause quite a bit of glare: heres some picts of ONE 2003 bi-xenon projector. All in all, i'm pretty happy with my Bi's. The bulbs have more of a white/yellow color than his colorshifted bulbs (much bluer, hard to tell in picts though). My BI does seem to put out more light (being its probably 20-30mm bigger than his) and more blue/purple when i put one of his colorshifted bulbs in compared to his projectors.

I should get them installed this weekend hopefully, and will get more picts on the road and the cutoff!

The Osram ballasts/projectors/and phillips bulbs (out of the BMW 740) cost my bro around $300-$450. I'm not exactly sure. i'll have to ask him later.

My hella bi-xenon projectors/ballasts/phillips bulbs (new) cost me $450 shipped.

DAmn those lights look sik!! Anyway did your brother retro fit projectors into his SI?? ALso how do you plan to retro fit those projecotrs you bought into you EX coupe?? I wanted to know how to do it cuz i want to do it on my 92 hatch, but didnt know how to go about doing it.

Ok, wow i didnt think i'd get this many replies!

My bro's headlights were pretty easy. He bought an extra set of housings (stock) just incase things didnt go as planned. HOnestly, most people wouldnt need extra housings because the installation could be done within a day.
I needed new housings, because the 92-95 civics have FLUTED lenses (with all those lines) So i opted for the projector housings (newer style) because they have clear glass (or plastic?)

Basically, you hvae to take the whole headlamp apart. easiest way is to cook her in the over for about 10 min. (no lie!) then you just have to take the pieces apart. Finally, where the stock bulb would go, you may have to drill out a bigger area so the back of the projector can go through. (this is hard to explain without picts https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emsad.gif)

Ebay is the place to go for projectors/bulbs/ballasts. I didnt get mine there, i got mine through someguy on another board. My bro did get his off of ebay, and they usually are used which shouldnt be a big deal. Actually for you people who like alot of blue, used bulbs would most likely be better, because they've probably colorshifted. My new philips bulbs obviously havent, because they're new. after about 100-200 hours, most bulbs will start changing more to a whiter/blue color. Right now, with my new bulbs in the BI's, its really white, but there is some yellow.

Bi-xenon projectors can be had for $450 NEW if you find the right guy. i'll try and post some links to good sellers on ebay, and other various sites!

I'll see if my bro still has picts, i think he deleted ALOT of them...
The only problem with my bro's setup, is that he didnt make a shroud to go around the projector itself. Not a huge deal, but id does let some extra light out. mainly light that goes WAY up high. Nothing blinding or glarish (is that a word?). he may opt to build a shroud, but he'd have to take the housing apart again.
He also was thinking about doing these retrofits for a sideproject,,,if anyone is interested let me know!

Its really easy man. I'll have him write something up under my name. There are some good links out there too, but i'll have to look for them. I honestly think its not as hard as some of you guys think it is! Takes just a little time and creativity.

His projectors were small, and easy to fit in. Mine on the otherhand (the bi's) are about 20-30mm in diameter BIGGER than his. He's got HUGE housings with the SI, and as everyone knows, the EG's are small as hell. I'm really going to have to get creative when i throw those in the New projector housings that should be coming tommorrow.

I've got the whole week of, because i finally am done with my four years of college. so hopefully these projector headlights will be in soon so i can get started!

This is exactly the thing for me, the whole and cutting should be easy but how did you secure the projector in the housing? Glue? If you could fill us in it would be great or show us when you do yours, thanks.

nice setup you guys got. How hard is the wiring for the lights/what exactly do you have to do to wire them? Did you brother have to adjust his light pattern?
