Blue SCS connector? Need to check Timing..........
1998 Honda Civic EX v-tec
I just replaced my dist., from Distributor King, and she purrs like a kitten. :-)
Is it absolutly nessary to insert a paper clip into the SCS connector?
Do you unplug the connector and install the clip, or leave it plugged up. I have no idea where this SCS connector is, or if it's plugged into anything. I got this info from a Chiltons manual, and as usual dosen't tell you much about what things are.
My timing light clips on to the #1 plug wire, and to the battery. Seems to me thats all I need to check timing.
Also, in the Chiltons manual it states to hold the engine @ 3000rpm till the radiator fan comes on and then let idle for a few minutes. (I forgot how many minutes)
Does this sound right?
Thanks........

yeah everything sounds right, you don't need to jump the service connector unless you're going to change the timing and yes let the fan come on
if you do need to find it though its just above the ecu in a little rubber/plastic holder thing
