Just an anecdote, but he ended up losing his bottom end. http://www.ej8squad.com/thread-3634.html

Thus, my choice was actually a third option, an Edelbrock Performer X (Victor X for B-series) using a stock throttle body for now (N/A stock D16).

Skunk2 has had some issues with their first gen products but they typically fix it as soon as they recognize there is a problem... I have had a complete skunk2 top end on my car for over 50k.

Blox is a budget parts manufacturer plain and simple. Maybe someone else can attest to the longevity of their products...

Yep. check the prices. There is a reason there is such a price difference. I heard about problems with the first gen stuff like tercel said. But the newer revised versions have usually been fixed. Im going with a S2 IM this weekend but will probably go with a blox TB. Can't see spendin almost 400 for a S2 when you can get the blox for under 200. As far as valvetrain goes Im not sure I wouldn't skimp on the crucial parts. Probably better off going with S2 or even better.

I just installed S2 manifold this past weekend on my B18C and it pulls so much harder than my stock snail shell did. The blox i heard is good for the price but you get what you pay for. The S2 setup is so much cleaner and smoother than the blox. It has results from 3000-1000rpms when the blox is from 5000-1000rpms. I would not go with edelbrock it is only good for top end. If you read up on it its only good from like 7000-1000rpms. but you can find the S2 for 250 with free shipping its only 60 more bucks than the blox. If you have any questions let me know.

Ive been hearing all but good things about Blox. Like a broken record you get what you pay for with them. Sounds like im going to go with the skunk2 setup.

Thank you to everybody.

Far off on the RPM thing:
The Performer X intake manifolds for Honda Civics are engineered for street/strip applications where peak torque and horsepower gains are realized between 3000-7800 rpm. The larger-than-stock plenum volume and 9" runner length are tuned for producing peak power at high rpm.
This manifold has been good to me, I actually have some mid-range torque now even in fifth (I don't go anywhere of course, but the motor does pull on the car). I've not noticed a difference in low torque, but did enjoy 2nd gear 55 to ~70 mph. I have a long geared transmission, I need to fix that.

Ok sorry about that i was thinking about the Victor-X not the Performer-X.... My fault on the wrong info. But it also all depends on what he wants. If he wants top end or mid range. My B18C with the S2 IM pulls really good now that i got rid of the snail shell and its cheaper than the Performer-X by like 100 bucks. But both are good name brands and good quality parts.

Really? I heard that putting a S2 mani on a GSR would loose low end torque? Which is the best thing about the GSR! Anyone want to give opinions on that?

Yeah i have read that also. But i have also read other wise. But to lose a few lbs of torque on low end to gain a few on mid range and top end is worth it to me. Plus for racing purposes when you are launching and only in low end for a super short period of time it doesnt really matter. So to me it is worth changing the mani out from snail shell to a good mani.

anyone know if this will mate to a different brand TBody? if it mates to stock one, and aftermarket tbody mates to stock manifold. they should mate to each other...in theory.

Its just hard to pass up a 68mm Blox TBody fo $148 and an S2 Mani for $245..

i have a skunk intake mani and a blox TB. . but i would not suggest the Blox TB mine took a crap on me after about 8months. . ends up it had major vacuum leaks, and ,made my car run like crap. . not caused from installation either..
but do like the Skunk2 mani .
