Default Blown Motor - 2000 Stock Dx Hatch - HOW?

I tried using search and didnt find anything that was a reliable source of information in answering my question.. So I'm relying on you guys to help me.. Anyways, I have a stock 2000 Dx Hatch, 70k miles on engine and chassis (daily driver), babied and very well tooken care of, oil changed at most every 2500 miles, car was 400 miles fresh into an oil change, so I was led to believe that the oil was good for a few more miles, (I use regular castrol 10w30). So heres the story, I was on the main stretch by my house cruising at maybe 45 and my engine started knocking out of no where, I'm like, hell no, wtf.. I should have immediatly stopped my car, the knocking just started and it could have possibly of been fixed, but my dumb stubborn ***, decided to take the closest back road, to take it as easy as I could being that my house was only a few blocks away. So, I'm driving about 15mph and the knocking still seams to be minor. Well I'm pulling up to my driveway and BOOM! my engine co completely blows, a few peices of my block bounce around in my engine bay and on the ground, along with the biggest cloud of smoke I have ever seen. So heres the mystery (to me anyways), my car never leaked any oil, there is not 1 drop of oil where my car parks in my garage, and the oil pan bolt was securely tight, also my car didnt burn any oil, no smoke to be seen what so ever, I was just wondering if any of you had any feedback for me, or if there is anything I can do to prevent this next time..

sounds like a rod broke. nothing you did could have stopped it if it wanted to break. just maybe a bad one got through at production.

Could you take some pictures for us? It could be a rod, but I don't know. Of course at this point, I and everybody else are going to tell you how LUCKY you are because now you have an excuse to SWAP an engine in.

Good Luck

The stock warranty ran out at 36000 miles, the last owner didnt get a new one. I purchased it at 55000 and I never got one, so thats my fault.. Everytime I try to upload pictures for you guys, my computer freezes, any suggestions..? =/

1. get a new computer.
2. get a new motor.

Unless you're running a quad Opteron workstation, you were ripped off.

Back to the original problem- Sound like a bad rod- factory issue probably. Looking at 4-600 for a new engine- just spend the extra and buy a cheap B18B1 swap.

Yea you did get ripped...what are your specs, maybe i can give you some ideas.

As far as your motor, it's blown, its not so important why, as to what are you going to do now. I recommend an LS swap, as that is rather affordable, or you could stick a y8 in there, that would probably be easiest, cheap enough and give you some more power while your at it.

I am getting side tracked here from HONDA to computer stuff, but what the heck did you pay 3200 for? Is it a lap top?
Anyway, I am not sure why you can not upload a picture. It might be something due to the trial user status. I don't know much about the trial user status, except the 5 post limit, and the fact I can not BUY anything from the classifieds.. GRUMBLE.
Anyway, it could be a computer problem. Set up another website, and see if you can download the pictures there and then send a link to that site. http://www.myspace.com lets you upload photos.

I would like a breakdown of your 3200 dollar computer though.
Monitor?
CPU
Motherboard and Chipset
Videocard
Sound..built in or sound card
Memory RAM, type.. DDR?
Hard drive
Operating system
Any other peripherals you feel like volunteering.

Some of this info is easy to get using the Direct X diagnostic tool
Go to Start. Go to run. Inside the run box type DXDIAG. This will launch the Direct X diagnostic tool. You can use this to see what your system has, and possible test your Videocard.
To be honest, I can't imagine what NON LAPTOP is worth more than 3000, especially when you can get top of the line computers for under 2 grand.

I am only helping with this, because I was the numbskull who asked you to post pictures.
