Blown Airbags replacement question
I have a 1992 civic hatchback with the drivers airbag deployed. I pulled out the front end so its not all smashed in anymore. I got a new airbag but i dont know where the sensor would be and I dont want to put in the new airbag and have it go off again once i connect the battery. So what all do i have to do before i put in the new airbag?

Re: Blown Airbags replacement question
First make sure you have the SRS Deployment unit mounted on the front bulkhead. Make sure it's not dented, cracked, damaged or gone. Disconnect BOTH battery terminals and wait for at least 3 minutes. Remove and unplug old yellow connectors (note that connectors are spring loaded & designed to short out when unplugged). Install new air bag and plugs. Now you have to clear the air bag light (SRS). Reconnect both battery cables.
Make sure ignition switch is "off". Connect a paper clip bent into a "U" shape into the service connector 2-pin plug under dash. Turn ignition switch "on". The SRS light will come on for about 6 seconds, then go off. Remove paper clip from connector within 4 seconds. The SRS light will come on again. Reconnect the paper clip within 4 seconds after light comes on. light will go off again, remove paper clip. The SRS light will indicate all memory erased by blinking 2 times.
I replaced both my drivers and passenger air bags and didn't have any problems.
Go slow and good luck.
