Default Blowing 10A Fuse but not 15A?

I live in New Zealand and just bought a EJ1 honda civic coupe, with a B18C and cams. The wiring has been butchered a little i can see on the engine harness (god knows why) and messed with under the dash a little. this sucks cause the loom is obd1 and so is the motor and doesn't need to be messed with!!!! also the cluster has been out to recalibrate the sppedo

Im trying to get to the bottom of it, i noticed today that the guage and tail lights were out. the 10A fuse was blown. I replaced it and it blew again. so it put in a 15A fuse and everything is fine! is this dodgy

could it be:
1 the ciggy lighter isn't working so maybe wires have come out
2 car has clear tail lights that i can clearly see have moisture in them
3 some other dodgy wiring thats touching like in the cluster that they messed up

More than likley some wires are touching somewhere and grounding out and thats why your blowing your fuse. Check all wires coming from your tail lights and I think you said gauge cluster also. trace those back and hopefully you will find the one that is touching. goos luck

If you were blowing a fuse due to grounding, it wouldn't matter the amperage, they would still blow. Sounds like something is pulling more than 10amps but less that 15 on that circut, which is strange... electrical work is a nighmare if you don't know what your doing. Good luck!

yeh i know its weird how it blows 10A but not 15A could it be moisture in the tails or no?
i mean im sure the lights used to work but the other day i was inspecting wires around the dash and headunit/ECU area and now it needs a 15A fuse

the stereo harness has been cut and wired straight into the headunit plug some wires may ground out

Q: how do i test the wires i have a multimeter but someone explain a little bit. Im just learning however i did make my own OBD1-2 ECU harness that works good in my other car

they didn't mess up all the wires but there is about 4 random wires that i dunno what they do. im just going to source a b16a2 engine loom and hopefully a dash loom also.

is it possible you have higher wattage tail light bulbs than the factory bulbs? that would explain it pulling a little more current than normal.
