Blew my Diff What now?
I blew out the differential in my Ls swap (B18B1 engine and trans)
3 options are
1: Buy another used trans for $350ish
2: Buy a NEW OEM diff for $350ish
3: Buy an LSD for $350ish
I want to buy the LSD, but am under the impression that it has to be installed by a shop which would cost several hundred more dollars? I consider myself fairly skilled, but my first experience with manual transmissions was just installing a clutch *although I have torn down my old D-series head, and rebuilt the upper half of my old D-series setup*
Is it that hard to Install an LSD, or is it not worth risking screwing up the install?

Hardest part is getting that shitty snap ring to put on and take off the casing. After that its cake. Just remember the diff bolts are left hand threads, so its righty loosy, lefty tighty instead of lefty loosey righty tighty.

I doubt buying another tranny would save me time.
My tranny still shifts perfect, the diff just blew out, so I don't wanna risk buying another tranny just to find out it grinds
I'd be buying an OBX LSD which many people on here run with no problems.

I pulled the pass side axle out and saw no damage other than the fact that there were some metal shavings on the part of the axle that goes into the casing/diff...

I'm sure you've read all the threads flaming the OBX LSD... they are great LSDs, I am running one now. Just make sure you rebuild it before you install it... theres plenty of how-to's on rebuilding it...
