Default black smoke

hey guys, my car is driving me nuts! I have a 98 civic hx d16 as of late ive noticed im puffy some black smoke bad, im told that means it runnning rich. So i cleaned my injectors and had a lot of carbon build up. My map sensor died and so did my temp switch. replaced them both but before i did my car overheated a bit. I put a new header on but i dont have the cat for it. HELP!

if it is black smoke you are running rich, but make sure it is...it may be blue smoke and your valve seals might be going bad. are you burning oil fast?

Check your O2 sensor too. When they go your car will run rich and over time will melt your cat internally and plug it.
