Bitch pin removal...
Anyone who's done a swap will know what I'm talking about. It's the pin that holds the 5spd linkage to the tranny. Surprise surprise, its being a bitch to get out. I know there are a lot of thread on this already, but there's one thing that confuses me. Everyone reccommends taking an 8mm punch or an AC bolt and just beating the shyte out of it with a bfh, but how? Once I put a punch in the hole, there is less than an inch between the end of it and the exhaust. I tried angling the punch a bit, but then I'm just pounding it into the side and not really hitting the pin. Any suggestions? I'm trying not to resort to pulling the linkage out with the engine cuz I cant really squeeze that far under the car. (It's on two jack stands on the lowest setting behind the front wheels. I know i know, but my shitty jack can't lift the car any higher.) Please help
.
Another thing. Some people mention hitting it out from the top through the engine bay... WTF? Correct me if i'm wrong, but i thought the pin was horizontal? If anyone has pictures that would sure help. Man i feel like a loser...

No the pin is verticle like so | not horizontal like so --. If you look at it from the bottom there is sort of a bevel going in to the pin. You will need to get this 8mm punch. Sometimes going from the top is easier but there isn't too much room up there. Kinda angle the punch from the bottom into those bevels. It should start to move up. You really just have to wail on it until it breaks free. There really aren't any secrets I have heard of over the years..

The pin is number 28 and the clip is number 1. I always make sure to put number 1 back but a bunch of cars I have worked on don't have it. There is also a boot that needs to be pulled back from the trans to expose this ****. Good luck!

Check this link. The clip is number 1. And the pin is number 22. Please note that there is a rubber boot around the clip that you have to move back first.

</TD></TR></TABLE>You know in the parts description they actually call it the bitch pin, JK. Look at the pics/links we'have posted, it's right there. For some reason none of them ever show the rubber boot.

Make sure to at least replace the pin, Honda part number 90751-S04-000.
