Default Big Three upgrade problems...

I upgraded my big three wires a few weeks ago, and it was running fine until today. I started having electrical issues and when I turned my turn signals on the speedo and tach would cut out and then cut back on. It would do this every time my signal blinked - on, off, on, off...etc. So I check out my wiring and noticed that the bolt on my alternator that holds the alternator wire on was rusted/fried and loose. So i took it off and noticed that my wire was fried and melted/crusty, etc.

I was wondering if anybody could think of any reasons why my alterator to battery wire and bolt would fry itself so to speak. Thanks

the wire from the alternator to the battery?
if you upgraded it as well then check how the wire was ran and check for shorts/rubbed areas in the wire. if there is - replace the wire and this time wrap some wire loom around the whole wire and zip tie it alittle loose on the motor area and then to non moving or hot parts. if its ran clear then it shouldnt be a problem.

also be sure to seal all the wire ends keep moisture and crap out and be sure to clean any corrosion off the wires and terminals.

the wire itself was ran fine, i check it and double checked it before starting it up. no shorts or rubbed areas, and it was zipped tied somewhat loose to some non moving/hot parts.

also the only part that was corroded or "fried" was the ring and about 2" of wire leading up to the ring on the alternator end plus the bolt.

oh also, the alternator was brand new when I did my upgrade, they were put in at the same time.

yes i noticed that i didn't suffer as much headlight dimming, well none at all really. also the car seemed to start a bit quicker, like the signal to the starter was quicker. plus the lights all seemed brighter
