Big brakes with 15/16 master cylinder on an EG Civic?
I plan on putting a 94+ Integra master cylinder and it's distributor block on my 93 HB Civic along with steal breaded lines. My question is on the big brake portion of all this. I own a CX and I've done a rear disk conversion from a Del sol but need to know if I am going to have to buy two different Brake kits to put large brakes on my car or dose someone make them to where I only have to buy one set. I'm leaning toward the AEM 12" brakes. I'm asking all of this because I'm going from 13/16 braking force to a 15/16 and the Integra's distributor block, I believe, will proportion the brake fluid out differently. And now the pistons in the calipers can also be up graded due to the master cylinder and I also want larger brakes. Can anyone help?

You can't use the dist block off the teg because of abs, you need one from a 92-93 civic si or del sol with rear disc and no abs. I'm not familar with the aem kit so i have no idea which kit you would need. With the cx front brakes and the del sol rear i would say probably the del sol kit though, if the cx front calipers are the same as the del sol.

Nope, while it does look like a 15, in actuality on my 95 CX hatch i have a 13/16th's. This goes for all 92-95 hatches, with the one exception may be an SI hatch with ABS, and or 4 wheel disk Heres the pic to prove it.

Am I just going to have to buy a kit from AEM to make, what I had (stock hubs in the rear) to a disk set up? Or dose anyone know if they make a kit that will utilize the delSOL rear disks that are installed?

The master cylinder, proportioning valve, and brake booster will be required when you do a swap from an Integra. The Integra Master cylinder assembly won't fit in the CX booster properly. My set up came from an Integra with ABS and though I don't have it in my hatch I haven't experienced any problems.
I run a full race set up for Targa Rallying and soloII and all I did was install X-drilled and slotted rotors, some ceramic pads (front), stock Acura pads (rear), and steel braided lines on all 4 corners. The breaks work fine for the street and Solo II but are a bit weak for Targa so......
The next upgrade to the braking system will be a set of Integra front spindles with the same type of rotors, Ford HD Dot4 brake fluid (way higher boiling point) and metalmaster pads. I'll leave the rear discs the way they are now.
I've never used or driven a car with a big break kit so I can't pass comment on weather they are worth the money or not but I know guys running this set up on the circuit and it offers tons of breaking and good durability.
Just my 2 cents...

Re: Big brakes with 15/16 master cylinder on an EG Civic? (Islandspeed)
I'm looking for non-ABS master cylinder and preportioning valve...would it have the same problems as you saw? From what I've heard from other Forum's it should bolt right up! No problems what so ever. Is that false information? Can I get a little more info on that bolt on with proof...something with the brake booster and master cylinder? Please...

you can use a 1991 EX non abs 15/16th's prop valve that will bolt right to your booster.

Ok, I'll get the 15/16 from the EX...should I look for the perportioning valve their too? and booster? Where is the brake booster anyways? Is that the part that's to the right of the master cylinder and down? The part that has it's own resevior and says "NISSIN 5/8"? Just wondering.
-Thanks for your help so far...eveyone.

you can use the 15/16 from the ex with your stock brake booster, but you will NEED the integra booster if you use the integra MC.
You cannot use the 91 ex prop valve, you need a 94+ integra non-abs 40/40, or an equivalant one from a del sol or eg civic WITHOUT abs.
the brake booster is the big black circular thing that the master cylinder bolts to. the nissin 5/8 thing is your clutch master cylinder.

Do you know the ratio for the proportioning valve is (Honda and or Integra)? Everyone says to change it, but I starting to wonder why/if it's even worth it.

Re: Big brakes with 15/16 master cylinder on an EG Civic? (Proglow3)
the stock proportioning valve i belive is a 3040 split, more to the front than the rear. im looking for the same stuff at my local junkyard today. so heres what you're looking for
94+ integra RS non-abs master cylindar with brake booster (15/16th's), and 4040 prop valve.
88-00 civic NON abs MC and BB (15/16th's), and 4040 prop vavle
or, switch to integra 1" MC and BB from a 90-93 integra, and 4040 prop valve
the prop valve can also be found on the 90-93 integra, or 94+ DelSol instead of civic's
since your car is a CX, you MUST, and i mean MUST pay attention to the size of the fittings on the new BB/MC combo you buy. they must both be 10mm. Some MC's have one 10mm and one 12mm fitting, thus because of ABS. so make sure you get one with both 10mm fittings or you'll be screwed, because your CX brake lines are set up to the 10mm fittings.

a master cylinder from a 91 civic ex is 15/16 and is a direct bolt on without having to use the brake booster like you would with the integra MC/BB.

Re: Big brakes with 15/16 master cylinder on an EG Civic? (xerox445)
Dose anyone, by chance, know what a the stock brake booster is rated at on a 93' CX Civic and also the 91' EX Civic? It's been listed earlier in the forum to install a 15/16 MC from a 91' EX with 10mm fittings. Will the pieced together booster and MC work just as well as the the factory's set up? Or should I probably purchase the 91' Civics booster, for reliability sakes?
