I'm definitely gonna try this way first. Is there any reason/benefit to do it the OP's way?

Well I found out that splicing the red/white wire with the red/black one on the Aux switch will make the Aux lights work w/out the headlights on, but the parking lights will still need to be on. You need to tap into the defrost switch wiring, as outlined by the OP, to make the Aux lights turn on w/out any other lights being on - which is exactly what I wanted. Thank you for the great write-up! Kinda feels like I have DRLs now.

My ? Is to the method used on the picture above

I have a few ?'s
A. Does this effect the way the defrost works in any way? (No right because I'm not hooking it up to the defrost)?

B. I understand it will only work with parking lights on but will the Aux button still work?
^ yes aux button will still work
C. Do they go off with highbeams?
^ no they stay on even with highbeams
