h22a EG will not start
My car has been in the shop for over a month and the mechanics are stumped. They have replaced a lot of parts and tried numerous other things. They say that the engine itself is in good condition, and that the problem is not mechanical. They have replaced the wiring harness. One of the guys is the one that did the swap on my car which is why I had it towed to his shop. They have asked me to turn to other people for suggestions. Any ideas on what to tell them?

Has spark and fuel. Distributor has been replaced. Timing is fine. Harness if from a 92 Civic SI. Car is a 92 SI. Tried different ECUs, compression test, leakdown, fuel pump, fuel filter, fuel control valve, fuel pressure regulator.

Injectors have voltage, and tested resistance across each one and they are the same. Plug wires and injector wires in correct order. TD60-U dizzy.
Smells like gas very badly when attempting to start.

Re: h22a EG will not start
it could be anything.. your not giving us good info that we can read from our computer and figure out..
what exactly is happening? are you trying to fire it up and nothing is happening? is it turning over but not starting?
first thing is to check all grounds.. head to chasis, tranny to chasis, and thermostat ground. Second check fuel pressure. It may need adjusting if your using an aftermarket one.
also since its an h22a im assuming your working with an obd1 motor with obd1 stock fuel injectors correct? those injectors need a resistor box otherwise your going to fry your ecu.. did they wire a fuel resistor box?

Is the CEL ON?
The strong smell of gas may indicate that the engine is flooded. Have you changed the engine oil?
As you have spark and fuel, then it's likely something simple that has just been overlooked -- plug wires out of order, fuel injector connectors out of order, low compression, or mechanical timing is off.

Re: h22a EG will not start
/agree with above check timing it is possible to build compression with timing off but the spark will not occur at the right time so i would check that and if it is way off pray you didn't bend valves

Re: h22a EG will not start
CEL not on, checked codes anyway and none. Oil is fine. Plug wires in correct order, fuel injector connectors in order, has good compression, and timing is correct. The car ran GREAT for 2 years and recently started having the starting issue. Could it possibly be the internal wiring harness has corroded somewhere?

One of the items that I mentioned is more than likely the problem. You need to triple check all the basics.
What color is spark at the plugs? Is it bright white/bluish or weak orange?

Re: h22a EG will not start
I am not sure how to interpret your spark. Usually weak spark is orange, whereas strong spark is a very bright white with a bluish tint. Is your spark weak or strong? If spark is weak, then the coil may be bad.

Re: h22a EG will not start
Weak spark will prevent an engine from starting. This is critical information that should have been mentioned in the first post. Any other information we should know about?
Did you use the same coil in all five distributors that you tested? With the key in ON(II), what voltage do you measure on the BLK/YEL wire attached to the igniter unit?
