Y8 head. it gives you higehr compression.

Id say buy based on aftermarket prices, like cams, springs, etc.. but Im pretty sure both heads can use the same aftermarket parts.

realize that with either, you will need to get it tuned, as the ignition and fuel maps wont let it last very long.

and vtec is overrated lol

cams can be found at such places as procivic, bisimoto, exospeed, or zex. you can also find them on ebay.

do some research to determine what will work for you. different cams have different powerbands, different location of the powerband (low revs, mid range, or high rannge). some cams REQUIRE valvetrain upgrade though

neither head is going to give an appreciable gain over the other. they are both very similar, and you would also see a very similar compression increase with either one. so really it should be a matter of which one you can get the cheapest. you have the option of tuning it (which would be best route) or like most people just run it with a stock p28. the p28 is the ecu for the d16z6.

if you do decide to get a cam then you definately will want to have it tuned. and as was said above, some cams will require valvetrain upgrades (ex. titanium springs and retainers).

well on a stock d15b7, a Z6 gets you from stock 9.28:1 to 9.95:1, and a Y8 head gets you 10.35:1 according to zeal's D series compression calculator. the numbers might be off from real ones, but that increase is there regardless. 0.4 compression increase is noticed, even on a stock motor.

you can get the z6 easier and cheaper.

if you don't mind have to have it milled you can make up for the compression differences

or use a thinner headgasket
