Which Is Better?

Re: Which Is Better? (blkeg)
I say built D16Z6 only because I don't think cast pistomns will take the amount of boost needed for "only" 250-300whp.
You do realize that 250-300whp isn't that "run-of-the-mill" nor easy, right?

Well the thing is im not gonna boost the ls so much to make 250. i just meant which would be a better platform? i could keep the d16 and built or swap for 2200 into a ls. now what do you say?

If you already have the D16Z6 I'd probably build it and boost it.
You can safely push 220whp on that built engine all day long if you so please.
D series parts are cheaper too, and in the event that you blow the engine (not if, but when) then replacement D16Z6 engines aren't hard to find and again, they're cheaper too.
The stock LS would be bad-*** too, but you need to ask yourself if you can really afford it and a GOOD turbo set-up including engine management.
Don't be swap poor and skimp out on the important things for a good turbo set-up.

ok.....I have the d16z6 in my car now nut there is so many things wrong with it, i mean like the crank bearing are worn out, water pump, clutch, something with the oil pump, etc. so im confused if i should re-build it.
How much Would it cost me to build a d16z6 to boost it to 220-250hp?
How much would it cost me to swap the ls into my eg?
Either way im still gonna spend more than 2000 for either of them. around here the drag gen 3 kits are the same price for both engines. couldn't i make almost the same power from a stock ls with drag kit than with a built d16? if so wouldn't it be better to go that way?

Re: Which Is Better? (Can't Afford Boost)
If those are the only choices, it owould be a hard call..
What do you want to use the car for? Are you going to pay someone to do the swap/installation?

Re: Which Is Better? (Nikos)
for right now thats my choices. i was gonna do the gsr but to much money for what i want. for the money that i would spend for the gsr i could do the ls and still have money for the drag kit. i was also thinking of b16a2 but some people say that it doesnt have any torque. so thats why i kinda choose the b18b1. i have a friend thats gonna do the swap for around 400. Oh yeah. i just want it for everyday drving and some racing. basically thats all i want it for and the fact that my boy i cali is coming down in feb and staying wiht me untill nopi. i know thats a long time but it should be cool living with him working on our cars.
