bet u cant figure this out!!!!!!!
sorry for the long input
i have a 94 white hatchback with an ls swap.. i took the engine out my other hatch which ran and moved.. bleed the clutch and all in the white one after everything was together. i drove it for 10mins fine. i got on it and banged 2nd and it reved out checked every gear went in fine no grinds nothing. the car moves wen u let the clutch out but wen accelerated it reves to 5 grand and doesn't move like it should, moves like 2mph.
tore it down the clutch was perfect. so i bought a act clutch kit with throw out bearing pilot bearing n alignment tool etc. anyway. i put it in and bleed the clutch tryed it again still did the same thing.. replaced the master cylinder n slave cylinder and bleed it again and still grabs every gear no grinds nothing but wen u let the clutch out it moves but wen accelerated revs to 5 grand and doesnt move more than 2 mph like before ... trans doesnt grind makes no noise any body have any suggestiion .. i cant figure it out n people i know cant..

Re: bet u cant figure this out!!!!!!!
let me summarize. you put in a new clutch and pressure plate, new cylinders and it still doesnt work right.
diagnosis, you ruined a main shaft on the inside of the tranny somewhere and it now is not grabbing the gears to spin them to accelrate correctly. thats if i am comprehending this right

yes new pressureplate clutch n cylinders car sitts on the ground goes in every gear fine ..let the clutch out it pulls in gear but doesnt accelerate .. wen its in neutral off the ground tires spin which is normal wen it on the ground the dont move which is normal to but wen i rev it in neutral on the ground the speedometer goes to 60 mph.. could it be and out putshaft broken but it wouldnt even grab

Re: bet u cant figure this out!!!!!!!
First, y does the speedo go to 60mph in neutral?? It's not suppose to do that and if the axles were not all the way in the diff it won't always make a noise. I had that happen to a friend of mine, his axle popped out just alil when he pulled out of the driveway and didn't make any noise at all and wouldn't move either.

change the tranny happened to three of my buddies the splines on on the inside of the tranny where you put the axles in is stripped and pretty much its just slipping and not grabbing all the way and for it saying it is going 60mph in nuetral im stumped

Re: bet u cant figure this out!!!!!!!
my thought, if you're getting a reading on the speedo and you feel it's consistant with the engine rpm and selected gear, to me that would rule out internal transmission trouble (on the mainshaft or countershaft...) because you're spinning the differential where the speed sensor ring gear is.
first thing i thought before i finished reading your original post was axle problem. keep in mind, axle problem includes stripped splines in the differential. get in, pull the axles and check everything. are these the same axles you had on the other car? are they on the right side..?

Re: bet u cant figure this out!!!!!!!
start the car, put your foot on the clutch in neutral, let your foot off the clutch and listen for a noise of any sort other than nothing! lol If you hear a small bearing noise, its your main shaft bearing. When you put it in gear, do the same thing, and try and listen for a grind noise.. Im going to say, you sheered teeth off the counter shaft for the ring gear, but still grabs slightly.

once again, if he's getting a normal speedometer reading in relation to engine rpm, then it's not internal gearbox failure.

Re: bet u cant figure this out!!!!!!!
that is pretty odd. i have heard of similar problems with axles poping out. if the trans was working fine when taken out of your other car i don't think that would be your problem now though.
i would deffinetly check your trans fluid and if it looks silver at all you know you got some kinda internal problem. if not i doubt you sheered off any teeth.

Re: bet u cant figure this out!!!!!!!
thats an easy way to check without having to really drop anything out of the car or take anything apart.
I agree with him (gsrhatch2356) though

Re: bet u cant figure this out!!!!!!!
it has to be a axle cause if you get a reading on the cluster then the final drive or output of trans is spinning which would eliminate everything up to that point so there really isnt anything to look at and if you had LSD you would notice that it would go faster then the 2mph but because it has spider gears they just spin cause one of the axles is not all the way in.

Re: bet u cant figure this out!!!!!!!
You broke the differential in the tranny.
The trans will still spin the diff housing, and still give you all your gears, and speedo will match revs in different gears just like it would when driving, but you'll have no output power.
And when this happens, you won't hear a big *SNAP* or a *BANG*.. It'll just do like you said, Shift to a higher gear and .... Nothing.
Had the same thing happen to my winter beater civic last winter.
Replace your transmission.

Re: bet u cant figure this out!!!!!!!
What you can do to listen for a noise is:
-Jack the front of your car up.
-Have a person hold the tire on one side, while you spin the other side.
-Try this, In gear, and in neutral.
-Then try spinning both wheels the same way.
You should hear something going on in the Diff housing. Most likely snapped the pin that holds the planetary gears in place.
