Default best way to tighten bolt

whats the best way to tighten the crank bolt and cam gears? i was thinkin maybe when i have the engine in the car? what to you guys think? thanks!

It's your call, when it's in the car you can hold it up better - but if it's out of the car you have more access to it.

ok, but if its out the car how do i keep it from moving? the only reason i would wait till its in the car is because thats the only way i can think of that nothin will move ... thanks

i found it the easiest to do when the engine is out... it is easier to get to and its easier to keep from spinning. cams gears are the same you can hold the opposite end of them and tighten it down.

i did click it and its a forum, but of what??

and i had it on a stand, but when i tighten the bolts the cams move, or the crank pulley ... i need to torque it down and i cant since it moves, if i try and jam somethin in the flywheel to hold it, it only works for a lil then it spins again

Use some ingenuity and have something to hold the engine from turning. Pry bar or wrench on the bolt....use something
