Default Best way to stop wheel rub?

I lowered my car with H&R sport springs in December and have been riding around with 17" rims since march. I still have my stock shocks. Up until last week there was no noticeable wheel rub at all. Last week I started hearing a grinding noise only when turning right at moderate speeds. The sound was only coming from my front driverside wheel well. Why would it all of a sudden start rubbing? What is the best way to fix the problem? Would getting new shocks (say KYB AGX's) help?

I do have the right sized rim and offset for my car. It never used to rub but now it suddenly does. What might be the cause?

The spring must have settled in time. Or the fender well linings have sagged. If it is only when making a turn, check what part of the lining rubs and adjust it bu using cable ties.

your front drivers side strut may have blown. I dought its because the springs settled (sp?) only because one side is rubbinh and not both sides.

Go with a 16" w/ 205/40/16 or a 15". 17" are big on eg/ek civics.

Your 17's are gonna rub sometimes. When i had 17's it only rubbed when i hit hard u turns. I had no rolled fenders or modifications and my car was lowered about 2.5". A stiffer suspension does help. When i first had 17/18 inch rims my car rubbed on turns alot, because of my soft suspension. But now i have Teins, so that means i can set my car up to be more stable on turns. Anywayz my tips are to roll the fenders, get rid of the liners(unless ur **** bout that stuff), and upgrading your shocks will help for this and other reasons. Also u have to change ur driving style. YOU CANT DRIVE I CAR WITH 17's, LIKE U DRIVE I CAR WITH 15's. So that means angling up driveways or taking turns slow if ur crossing those dips in intersections. So it is an adjustment, I know because my car has 18's and is slammed and i had to set up my car right and change my driving habits. But it depends if its all worth it to you.

good luck

replace your suspension and even cut your fender liners if you don't mind doing it.<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by Two Dollar &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">I do have the right sized rim and offset for my car. I have 205/40/17 Kumho 712's on 17" silver Konig Heliums. I'm thinking that the problem might be solved by upgrading my struts. When I turn to the right the car's weight shifts to the left and onto the driver side front tire (and back tire). With the stock struts in place (5 year old struts) that were originally setup for ride comfort, not ride handling, they are probably too soft for my new setup (1.5" drop in front and 1.75" in back). This is what I think but I'm no mechanic. Could I be right?
