Best streetable brake pads?

Best streetable brake pads?
So i recently purchased my current car, 96 ej6 w/ a healthy gsr swap, and was debating keeping or selling it due to the difficulty of the getting-it-smogged issue. But, ive finally got it solved after a few months and am expecting registration and plates soon. But one of the things i was waiting to do until i knew whether i was gona keep her or nOt was the brakes. Ive always used Hawk in the past, and have grown particularly fond of the HPS, and have opted for Rotora slotted rotors... due to the low-ish dust and good bite for around 50 bucks and 120~ for the rotors. And that was on my accord 4dr. Ive got more options with this civic... Ive got friends who stick to their brands... Hawk, ebc, project Mu... Just wanted to see if i could get some input from you guys on what you think is the best choice for pads! Keep in mind i do some canyon driving, not a whole lot, and alot of slow driving where they wont get to "optimal" temps. And i don mind dust... Any thoughts?

The hawk HPS is a great pad! You could step up the HP+.
My buddy has these in his ITR, and they ****ing bite! They aren't a low dust pad, and can be a little loud when cold. Even with that, they are a great pad.
Personaly I will be going with HPS front and rear.

Hawk is fine. If it were me, doing autocross/street I would get Axxis Ultimate probably. HP+ make noise and dust a lot. And I can't handle brake noise on a daily driver.
If you're not going to the track, ever, there is absolutely nothing wrong with $36 autozone ceramic pads. I've been using those for daily driving and autocross with no complaints. Minimal dust, good bite, etc. I've got s2000 brakes on my 2000 civic with Yokohama S. Drives and I can stop on a dime.
Unless you're tracking the car, you really won't see any benefit for overpaying for pads.

That's why I budget only about $30-40 on pads and why amazon.com gets you the best value for the dollar. On the plus side for Autozone, they have lifetime warranties on their pads. As long as you don't wear them down to the metal, you can return them to the store and swap them out for a new set.

Thsnks guys. Yeah i had the hp+ on my accord before this hatch. They do bite Sooo nice but driving through a drive-thru for instance.. Squeeeeeeeekkk!!! I think ill go with those akebonos, since im not really doin any aggresive driving. What do you guys think for rotors? Im thinking of replacing the blanks with some slotted ones... Cuz i definetly find my way to some malibu canyon runs to the beach... And some slots have really helped in the cooling dept. I had rotora slotted last time... What do you think??

Re: Best streetable brake pads?
Sounds like you're mainly doing street driving. Even on canyon runs, you're not going to do any type of prolong threshold braking/overworking the pads. While it might not sound cool to be rolling with Autozone pads vs hawks/axxis/akebono, the autozone pads will work just as well for your intended use.

You'll spend more money replacing rotors due to their abrasive compound. I think that's how Autozone makes money off of them. My mother-in-law wore through a set (down to the backing) in 2 years. Rotors had to be replaced of course. Not impressed at all. Plus the pads don't wear nearly as evenly as the OEM/Akebono pads.

Also, drilled and slotted rotors on the street aren't such a great idea. They are very well known to crack.
Also, some correct me if im wrong, but the can't be resurfaced like a normal "blank rotor".

Slotted rotors are hard on the pads. You will be going threw them faster then some one with blanks.

Re: Best streetable brake pads?
i love these brakes
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2-Fro...Q5fAccessories
great stopping power and very little dust and noise!
had mine for 30k and no problems. LOTS of pad life left still. probably 70%
they were so great i bought some pads just to replace the ones on my sister's cars. i hated washing the wheels every week due to the semi metallics that came OE on the car.
my friend bought some too for his rsx..he loved every moment with them. prior he had autozone pads that were mentioned, these stopped just as quick but with a lot less dust
my car with these brakes: i drive it in 100 degree summer and no cracks
