Default Best Spark Plugs/ Wires to use..B16A2

Searched a bit on the forums and couldnt really find anything, even looked in the Faq's area. I was wondering if anyone had any input/personal experience or info on whats the best Plugs/Wires are to use in a B-series motor. Also, it is really worth upgrading or messing with the cap/rotor/external coil??? Im talking upgrading in terms of a general tune-up/upgrade on a N/A motor with bolt-ons. All info/input is greatly appreciated.

OE. ngk plugs and blues.

stock ign system is good to 4-500 whp.
no real need to go external with the coil. yet.

Not trying to knit-pick but OE wires are not NGK, they're Sumitomo.

I'd buy OE wires from the dealership or online dealership wholesaler, and spark plugs can be good old NGKs from your local parts store. they are platinum so expect to pay more than the standard $4.00/plug for coppers.

Also copper equivalents are out there too - I think Inline Four sells them.

What he said, although the blue wires aren't OEM, I hear all good things about them. NGK makes a quality product.

Yea i found the blue NGK wires for around $60 and had the Iridiums in my old civic with a JDM B16A. What are your guys thoughts on those Nology HotWires??? they are very expensive ($150) and claim they give you more horsepower/torque which i find very hard to believe. Im not sure how that could be possible.

Nology wires suck ***** man, seriously.

They cost more and don't do crapola for power gains.

Stick with OE or NGK Blues.

I suspect Nology Hotwires work on the same principle as the Denon Dedicated Link Cable (that's just a Cat6 ethernet cable).

I put Iridiums in my B16A2 and the points melted just like OE platinums, so I wouldn't spend extra (my B16 runs damn hot though). I had that emissions recall done on my 97 last year, which meant (among other things) they replaced plugs & wires, when they wear out I'm going to look into getting colder plugs (though, last time I checked, that'd require switching to copper).

BTW, sparkplugs.com will tell you which plugs they carry that are compatible with the B16A2 (punch in 96/97 Del Sol VTEC or 99/00 Civic Si), last time I went there they listed a lot more than just platinums and iridiums. Keep in mind with copper plugs you'll have to replace them a lot more often...

Agreed

I've had my NGK blues since '01 no issues:

Gotcha...this is from Nology's Website:

Nology HotWires are the most technologically advanced ignition wires available. HotWires create the most powerful spark possible. HotWires are engineered with a special built-in capacitor, exclusive only to HotWires. This revolutionary design allows energy from the ignition coil to accumulate in the capacitor until the voltage at the spark plug electrodes reaches the ionization point. At that split second point the entire power of the stored spark is discharged at once, creating a spark 300 times more powerful. The result is faster, more complete combustion, and most importantly,
MORE HORSEPOWER that's 100%. Smog Legal.
