Re: best performance shop in texas (Jonathan_EH)
Jotech is expensive but good, but another good shop is called Intercrew Autosolon on Sherman rd in Richardson (of 75 and spring valley). I go there a whole lot so do many of my friends, the owner is very intellegent. check em out......

Yep, in DFW Intercrew is good too. I went to a dyno day there with a few H-T guys.
One place I can say stay away from in DFW is Concept Racing. That place is a joke....

Jotech is a rip! Yeah they do good work, but they charge out the ***. I called them a month or so ago, to see what a piston install would cost (stock bore), I was quoted $2000!!

Re: (sledgehammer)
intercrew is poorly represented. they need to stop selling shop stickers. there are about 5 stock dx coupes with intake and exhaust with yellow or blue intercrew banners. i didnt even know it was a shop at first. just some rice gang or something

Re: (redtao)
Anyone have feedback on Protech in Austin. I was contemplating going there for my engine swap. They qouted me like $1,500 - $2,000!!! They said they try to replace as many parts as possible or something (i guess water pump, belts etc.).

Re: (SASIR2)
good god it must suck to be that far west. At the shop in KY I worked at over the summer $1000-1100 for a complete swap, and that included any internal engine work at all, no extra charge.

call tybrid at 238-9923 Tyrone is supposed to be better than Protech. He was a Honda mechanic for years prior to opening his shop. He's got awesome prices as well. Tyrone is a pretty good guy from what I can tell, and from everyone says. I've never had work done there, but several friends have. I have bought parts from him for CHEAP. Protech charges too much, and I've heard lots of bad things.....I can't say definitvely that Protech is a bad shop as I have no experience, that's just what I've heard.

Where do ya'll get your engines' from? Can i get mine from HMO and have it shipped to the shop? Is there a warranty on labor/installation? What is actually involved with the install, why do ya'll charge so much? Not knocking the shop, just asking questions. I talked to someone from jdmhondaparts.com and they only charge @ $500 install for a b18c. I talked to John one time when i got my Comptech Icebox installed on my R. Nice guy and gave me some good info, i think he was the one that said labor would be like $1,500 - $2,000 or another guy there.

care to explain?
Protech has been around for alot longer than tyrone/tybrid or alot of the shops in texas, dont you think things are going to happen once in a while? ( Not that i suddenly agree with your statement ?)
Tyrone does know his **** and seems to do alot of stuff on the side, Im sorry we cant offer you the best prices. We dont run the business on the side, so Im sure your going to find someone who works out of his pocket to beat the prices, but if you seriously find a legit price somewhere else, mention it and im sure we can work with you.

We get our engines from various sources depending on avail. and etc..
The install really depends on what you want to do. When we do swaps its recomended to replace the essentials with a motor. Water pump, t-belt, tensioners, gaskets, etc.... But thats all up to wether you want to or not. But we problay wont warranty it if you dont change those things. John or jesse is problay who you talked to if it was recently.
Your labor rates are going to vary depending on whats being done. What car/year/motor/wiring.... etc...
PM me if you want to look into something and i will get john to help you out>
Let me know if you have any more q's.
