5000 grand is aot of money my friend...
however since I'm sure you mean 5 grand, you might as well give up on the b18c5... and then it's personal opinion between the b18c1 and b16a

true, but I'm sure there would be little extras needed for the swap which would push it over the 5k limit.. plus an R swap never appealed to me in terms of price vs power compared to the other two... besides, one of the otehr two leaves money for more mods

because the c5 comes with better everything... no matter how much u spend on upgrading the b18c or b16a with the money left over. the c5 will always have more.
sure u can spent 2000 on upgrades, but that will only get you the R tranny and some bolt-ons. not to mention labor... now thats not even close to a b18c5

I've read that already.. however I look at engines in the way if you were to build the crap out of everything(which means above the Type R's specs if NA or for turbo) and to me paying $1500 for the extra 25-30hp in the beginning isn't money well spent.. sure you can't build a motor as good as the R for $1500, but with $1500 you can start piecing together internals and such for a motor that in the end could withstand boost better or make more hp than the R.. just my opinion, and it will never change

Re: best motor for hatch (Flipsyde74)
i would go with the b16 because if you go with the b18c5 you will not have the money to fix it up at all. you will just drop it in and that's it. props on the b16 you will have more money to build it up. 99 civic dx
