Default Best Lowering Kit on a Budget

I was wondering what would be a good set of springs and shocks to lower my car.

I drive a 1997 Civic EX coupe, and I want to drop it about 1.5"-1.75", and for as little money as possible. I still want to get good components, but I don't auto-x or anything, so it doesnt have to be top of the line by any means.

Thanks!!!!

Eibach Prokits on stock shocks.

Only cost me $75 for the used springs.

I suggest you replace your stock shocks right away after you lower your car......

Why does everybody think that your stock shocks will blow right away? In my previous car, i was rolling with coilovers slammed (3 inch drop) on stock shocks for about 2 years and they never blew.

thats true everyone says to change the shocks with lowering springs...my stock shocks have 110,000 with suspension techniques springs and they have been okay...on a budget? just buy some used (uncut!) springs and install them yourself...thats the cheapest way to go (next to cutting your factory springs )

My shocks only have 50,000 miles on them and they blew like 2 weeks after putting coil overs on... 2.25" drop....

For a drag car, they're fine. BUT...when I took my 110,000 mile shocks to VIR, the shortcomings were painfully obvious. The Koni's are much better now.

I kept being a cheap bastard and it gets you in the end.

Tokico blues suck-have some in the garage.

Ground controls for sure.

But KYB or koni is the way to go.

That will set you back probably 900 is my guess. But it is awesome.

LOOK H&R Sport Springs 149.95 at optauto.com (Seen cheaper but nm) KYB AGX adj 375 shipped (search around, it aint hard to find em at this price) Progress Camber Kit 100-150 (many others too). Alignment 50....Total is roughly 800 or lower for a NICE setup! I have this setup and i want lower, so H&R races will be next setup, but they are all same price at options. Peace

Eibach Sportlines & Tokico Blue's. Look for them used (partstrader). Springs already broke in. Or check group buy center. Then go get an alignment and make sure they do a good job on toe settings.
Later.

Koni Threaded Suspension Kit - $900 from Tire Rack. Can be had cheaper elsewhre, though. Includes progressive rate springs with adjustable perches and rebuildable shocks. Basically infinite lifetime suspension kit with adjustable ride height, and dampening.

Personally, I like the H&R cup kit. It's a matched spring/shock set with Koni's. There is a little bit of height adjustment, but not too much. But, the ride is great. And they're priced a little less than going with springs and shocks.
