Default Best Intake?

I searched and, surprisingly, found nothing on this topic. If someone else knows where it is, link me.

I'm going to replace the stock intake on my D16y8 and was looking at an AEM short ram and a K&N 63 series. Anyone have any experience with either of them? Problems? Maybe a better choice? Thanks.

there is no "best" intake and you wont notice enough of a gain from one over the other anyway.

your not going to get any more noticable performance from a cf whale ***** than you will a pvc with k&n filter. Your only paying for the carbon fiber = pointless

yea, you will have something that looks good, sounds good, quite possibly gives you better gains than most CAI...and heres the best part...his ride wont look like some hoopty with PVC and a K&N on it

oh yea, and it still cost less than most name brand intakes

Intakes for the single cams shouldn't really be bought for the performance factor. You probably won't gain any HP numbers from them with a single cam.

Instead, you should buy one keeping in mind how a short ram intake will improve the RESPONSE of your vehicle, due to its better flow. I noticed the response of my car jumped up a little when I got mine. In any case, I would say to get what is most cost effective, or what you think looks the best. Speaking in terms of just an intake, you won't notice much of a difference between any of them.

Well thanks, I did manage to get some info out of the rambling. I know I'm not expecting major gains here, but I'm working at it one step at a time... And No, I'm not expecting majors gains from this D16 eventually at all so no need to point it out to me.

if any of you read grassroots motorsport magazine, they recently acquired a eg civic si project car. They did test on intake and exhaust upgrades and found small gains on the dynamometer. So technically these intake may do a little something but the difference in HP is not anywhere close enough to making any bang worth the buck.

I think I'm going with the AEM because of the CARB exemption.

The D16y8 isn't a high power output motor, getting an intake will do barely anything for power. They just look and sound nice under the hood.
