Best grit ball/flex hone for B16A2
Just about to put new rings in my 99 si and need advice on the grit and the type of grit I should be using to put the cross-hatch back in the 200K+ engine.
Found this Flex-hone under the Acura brand from what appears to be the SnapOn website. This one shows 180 grit but doesn't mention the material abrasive material (AlOx, silicon carbide, etc...)
According to the Honda Service manual, a stone of 400 grit or finer should be used.
Even though the website above seems to recommend 180 grit for Acura/Honda engines, I'm thinking that's a bit too rough. I was thinking more like 320 or finer, but I want to get cross hatches as the walls are pretty smooth after 200k miles.
I know the size (83mm), but which Flex Hone grit and which abrasive would be best for my B16A2 cylinder walls?
Here's all the options from the manufacturer's website
TIA.

The rings used require a very fine hone for proper break in and oil control. That is if you are using OEM rings. And that is if your cylinders are round and true. You should check for roundness and taper of the cylinders then make the decision. I personally would go a tad bit of a rougher hone if the cylinders are out of round which they most likely are at that mileage, and how most of the 99-2000 Si's were drivin.
