Re: best cold air intake (tensecpass)

The only suggestion I have is find one with a "brace" on it so it doesnt rattle around, mines kinda hopptied up on my car right now and it vibrates like crazy if I'm just sitting in my car with it ideling haha, it came with a parts car I bought so I guess I can't complain https://honda-tech.com/forums/images...s/emsmilep.gif

notice the little tab on the piping, that's what I'll be looking for in my next one.

I would get a short ram, just because I dont like to replace the filter every week or so. It gets really dirty from sitting so low. If you live in a rainy place, you dont want your motor sucking the water.

injen makes great quality intakes and do yourself a favor and get the aem bypass valve as well

By best do you mean make the most power?

Some companies advertise MORE HORSEPOWER!!! like their tube is a big deal compared to everyone else's tube.

Like somebody said before "A pipe with a filter on it is a pipe with a filter on it".

Go for one that looks good in your engine bay and doesn't cost $300.

EDIT: Say away from short ram intakes IMO.

care to elaborate why he should stay away from short ram?

i also agree that a pipe with a filter is a pipe with a filter on it https://honda-tech.com/forums/images...es/emsmile.gif

Re: (hurtgen)

Ask around, they can make throttle response a little laggy at low rpm, I believe lack of length/resistance is the reason. Go drive around with an open throttle body and tell me how it feels at low rpm. It also put the filter more inline with air streaming through the radiator. "Hot air intake".

Are you for real about that? I know some one that drives a rs-x with a cold air. I aslo drove it, ill tell you the throttle response was laggy compaire to the short ram.
It also made this funny sound when you tap the gas. Sounds like a whale gasping for air. But anyways can you feel the powerr of a cold air, compairing to a short ram?

Tuner Eddy 01-04-2008 07:00 AM

i have a short ram, i hydrolocked a car with a cold air once and haven't used another one since.

Re: (phyzJunkieCivic)

Put it this way, if you keep the stock air box low rpm throttle response feels more snappy and unlaggy at low crusing rpm. Cold air and short rams can ruin this feel, but can generate more HP near redline, not necessarily throughout the engines rpm range though.

I got rid of my cold air intake/box for a OE box since I don't rev all the time like I used to. I do like the way it feels at cruising rpm, but I can tell a difference when I rev it up.

Going to edit my first post.

what does the bypass valve do? should i stick with short ram or cold air?

http://is.rely.net/1-92-56342-l-HDIv...QjldAGcqmQ.gif Get a short ram

phyzJunkieCivic 01-04-2008 07:09 AM

A by pass valve bassically is for when you suck up water, it supose to not let water go pass it into your motor. I think its bs when you suck up a nice puddle.

Re: (phyzJunkieCivic)

will a short ram give me the same gains as a cold air? how hard are they to install?

phyzJunkieCivic 01-04-2008 07:21 AM

Your not going to feel 3-4 horse power, so it does not make a diffrence. Both are easy to take of or to put on. Short ram are easy because you dont need to go under the car to install the filter. Short ram should be quite faster because its up in arms reach.

Mr. Em1 01-04-2008 07:22 AM

password whale penis ftw, dont hydrolock your shit with some dumbass cold air intake

neebie 01-04-2008 08:57 AM

phyzJunkieCivic 01-04-2008 08:59 AM

By any chance, do they have a replica of the whale penis? Kinda to pricey for something that looks kool

The JDM Intake is one of the best out there they make power for once and not like 3hp I've seen 12hp on some cars but most is around 6hp which is still really good https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emthup.gif

boost and bass 01-04-2008 09:23 AM

a 300$ metal tube with a filter at the end will breath the same air as any other metal tube, only thing that can change anything is where the filter ends up being placed.
