Best Civic Platform from 92-95 for an engine swap?
What is the best model civic for a future engine swap from model years 92-95?
I am interested in the Hatch backs, but am not sure which is best. Someone offered to sell me a black 92 Si in pretty good condition with just a little rust on the rear quarter panel near the wheel well for $6000. Is it worth it? Or should I get a different hatch? This is in Cali by the way where Si's are hard to come by.
Thanks for the info.

Si is but the wieght is If you want something light, look for a CX or VX. However, if you are simply looking to build something fun to drive, and not an all out race car, the Si is great.
$6000 for a 92 is a RIP-OFF!!! They blue book for a 92 Si in EXCELLENT condition (meaning it is like showroom, no stains, no rust, no dings, glossy, and problem free) is $4,600.
I would keep looking.

Hell, I'll sell you my 92 Si for $6000 right now, and I'll even leave my radar detector in there. It's even that rare blue color that you mostly only see DXs in. It looks great. I don't mean the aqua, I mean bright almost like electron blue. Minor rust on mine too! Damn, $6000 is about 3 times what I thought I'd get for it!
Anyway though, don't get a DX or VX or CX. Its better to wait and get an Si. I think you'll be happier in the end if you drive it on a regular basis.

get your self a cx or a vx. complete disc brake conversions can be found for 300 so brakes shouldnt be a factor. if your building a racecar eitehr platform is ideal. the vx holds a small advantage of being wired for vtec already. si's have all kinds of heavy power options and that damn moonroof assembly. it jsut depends on how much race and how much comfort you want. my cx tips the scales at 2030lbs with ful interior and a half a tank of gas.

one without a sunroof.. vx is the lightest most stripped down hatch.. if you have a sunroof and your putting too much power down.. your going to twist the frame to pieces..

Yeah, Si's are really hard to find out here in Cali...
I want to have a fun commuter car for now, and the Si seems to have enough to keep me satisfied. Then later, comes a motor swap.
$6000 is what they are going for out in Cali, but they have to pass smog too...
People don't even care what year they are. Hence the $6000 asking price...
I can't find any Sis out here. I may go for that one. It is pretty clean except for the rust on the rear wheel well on the drivers side...

Whoa! Do not pay 6000!!!! Personally....I'm going with the VX/CX since it is the lightest. The Si is a slug for a hatch.
Just keep looking....you should find a hatch for 3000-3500 in ur area.

Here's some ads I found that u might wanna look at. I'm orginally from San Jose and go back on winter/spring/summer breaks....so I entered my san jose zip. Should be pretty close to u though. Once hatch is for $3900 and the other for $3000 i think. And this was only a basic search.

Go for a CX or a VX, **** all the options, it's light as hell. Then afterwards you can throw some Rear discs on it and change the interior if you want.
