Best Civic Engine Swap
I know this has probably been covered before, and i'll probably get a lot of **** for this thread, but what do you think the best engine swap would be for a 6gen civic? Exclude expensive *** conversions/motors like c-series V-6s, B20s, and **** like that. Thanks

B20Z is a good choice. They run about $1000 shipped for a longblock. You'll need a tranny and all that good stuff to complete the swap. All in all, You should spend about $2200-2500 depending on how patient you are while sourcing parts. The availability of parts is huge, just like any other b series. It's basically the big brother to the b18b, with a different block design; heads are the same except the IM 96-98(?) had a "giraffe" manifold (which can be replaced with an LS IM or an aftermarket one.
I personally think the best swap is a b18c1.

i think US b18c would be nice... being its like 2500 for a complete swap and you could have it BAR/smog legal.....
however b18c5 has nice valvetrain however idont see many deals on these engine swaps...

Re: Best Civic Engine Swap (hybrider93)
Is it crazy to turbocharge a B18C1 GS-R engine that has been swapped into a 6g civic coupe?? If so, if i want a forced induction engine, do i have to keep the D16??

and ive seen people asking 3000 on honda-tech however when i mentioned 2600 they said they would sell for that if people were serious about purchasing it...
my friend got a 2000us b18c1 complete swap for 2500 from recycler with papers
look around and be patient..
LS swaps are like 1600-1700 dollars now hydro tranny

Re: Best Civic Engine Swap (benzcivic99)
before i could actually afford my swap, i had been wavering back and forth for over a year on whether i should do a b18c or h22. after further research, i decided to with a built CRVtec. just be prepared to drop good chunk of change on it though. i plan on having an all-motor 12sec daily driver.
a local guy here is doing the swap for me...he was doing lsvtecs four years ago before the whole hybrid craze even started. an lsvtec that he's done is still running strong at 50k miles w/ high compression. the guy definitely doesn't take it easy on his car either.
bottom line, b20vtec swap is expensive, but it's a beast and can be very reliable as long as it's done properly.

Re: Best Civic Engine Swap (chirp3rd)
I've heard that a B18B/B18C hybrid engine is a pretty good idea. A b18b block for the displacement (B18B has 1834cc compared to 1797 for B18C) and a b18c5 head for the flow and all those great type r valvetrain goodies. Anyone know if this is as good as it sounds??

Re: Best Civic Engine Swap (benzcivic99)
~8000grand. told ya it was expensive. it's one built up **** though along with b16tranny,lsd, and exedy clutch. the only thing i'd have left to do after this is jun stage3 cams setup and port and polish later down the line. i post a list of all the parts and everything going into it after i get the complete detailed estimate this weekend.

Re: Best Civic Engine Swap (benzcivic99)
Does anyone know a good place to buy a B20??
My vote is for the B20 block, a built GSR head and a JG intake
