i believe he was talking about a cam gear...
i say skunk2 cam gear, my friend had one on his, and it would never slip, it has 6 bolts to hold down the adjusting thing.

are you asking for cam or cam gear? I have the AEM one and it hasn't slipped. Works fine for me plus comes in pretty different colors!

I think my AEM Tru-Time 0 deg mark might be off. I put it in and my ignition timing was 3 degrees off. I'm going to take it off and check everything again.

Cam gears adjust the power band, they don't really create more power. Cams, on the other hand, create power, but how much all depends.

be careful of which ones you choose...some can be off as much as 3 degrees....go with skunk2..they have 6 bolts and wont slip, sure you can find it for cheap...around 50 bucks on ebay

Re: best cam gear for SOHC? (krazySOHC)
yeah I think mine is off, it is an AEM. If I have time I'm going to take it off tomorrow and check ignition timing with the stock gear, and then put in the AEM and adjust the ignition timing back with the cam gear, and this will be my new zero mark.

Might be SLIGHTLY off topic, but how much power do cam gears and pulleys usually give you ? ? What about Cams ?

Re: best cam gear for SOHC? (Quad-Damge)
since this thread has some single cam guy's attention, i will ask this again. is there ANY decent cam for a non-vtec y7 motor? i have an 00 and would really like to get a good street cam for it, and a gear at the same time. would anyone suggest upgrading the whole valve train at the same time(springs, retainers, etc)?

Re: best cam gear for SOHC? (2000CX)
check http://www.exospeed.com .
It won't hurt to upgrade the valve train, but there is no need to upgrade the valve train unless you intend to rev higher.

Re: best cam gear for SOHC?
I dynoed 2-2-02 and found the setting for my cam gear(advanced 6 degrees) to give me more torque then average. I made 109.1HP which is about stock, BUT I was putting down 95.7 ft/lbs. Other mods were an intake and pulley set from UR.

Re: best cam gear for SOHC? (Civic_95_Si)
why does everyone keep on dissing the AEM's? I'm guessing because one person had a problem with them, it spread like wildfire, and now everyone thinks they're crap?
As far as i remember, the two "twin" Drag solaras (i think they're running 7's, or at a time they were, maybe faster now. i know one of them was using the AEM's) were using AEM Cam gears...now if that doesnt say anything, i dont know what will...
Basically, what i'm saying is, don't bash a product unless you've used it personally.
sorry for the worthless rant..

Yeah, someone mentioned that AEM slips because they have limited amount of screws. I personally have used them on 3 different engines with no problems, EXCEPT for the weird noise they make. You have to shave the cover on some applications however they still sound weird.

Re: best cam gear for SOHC? (dabrown)
a friend of mines aem cam messed up his whole engine, but that must just be a freak. and do you really think that they are just using off the shelf cam gears? i bet they had AEM make them a set of cam gears to higher/tougher specs, and AEM gets the braggin rights.
