Best budget brake upgrade for 99 Si
Pretty much as the title states.
I am looking to upgrade my brakes a bit as they are in need of some work and was just curious what the best set up for someone on a budget is.
I was thinking just new rotors and pads will suit me fine but was curious if I could get my hands on any other OEM Honda calipers/rotors cheap enough would they be better for me.
Any advice would be great.
Thanks

what do you mean by upgrade?
Pepboys/Autozone sell different grade pads from bone stock to performance pads. Calipers dont need replacing usually until they go bad, ie leaks, torn seals etc.
Good luck

Autozone rotors, AEM or Green Stuff pads, SS lines. Flush the braking system.
Get the rotors with the 6 month warranty, pads are more than good enough for daily driving and cause minimal dust, SS lines are almost always good (just don't kink them).
More serious upgrades? Check out Fastbrakes.com for their 11in front brake kit w/ Wilwood calipers.

power stop rotors with stainless lines, good road/race pads and DOT 3 fluid, , thik you will stop on a dime and maybe even pick it up. calipers are good factory equipped.....

SS lines arent going to do jack but make the pedal firmer - there is no performance upgrade to them.
I dont know how many times we hav to cover this same topic, again and again, but you can upgrade all the way up to factory NSX calipers with redrilled 5 lug rotors.
Or you can just slap integra (57mm) calipers on and call it a day.
Either way, you will need a 15/16" mc at the very least.
I really just suggest better pads and better tires...
(and i should know, having a 1" itr mc and integra calpers)
Want more info? I suggest you search, since this topic has been beaten to death

Re: Best budget brake upgrade for 99 Si (KLackeyImages)
Well I did search and did a little reading but I guess I was curious to how much better some other OEM Honda bits were compared to the Si bits.
As in would it really be worth the upgrade.
All the threads I found were about much older Civics so I didn't know.

what i would do is get your oem rotors resurfaced. Then pick some Hawk hps pads and throw those on. Flush out the old brake fluid and use some dot 3 brake fluid. You'll notice a difference trust me. I'm running the hawk hps pads and there great. Also your car isn't going to stop any better with just brake upgrades, pick up some good tires. I'd suggest the Kuhmo Spt's 205/50/15's or 195/50/15's. The yoko es100's isn't a bad choice too, i'm running them right now and performance in the dry and wet is great.

Re: (Shy_GuyAP1)
Powerslot slotted or Brembo blanks rotors
Goodrich or Technafit stainless steel lines
Hawk HPS Pads.
Falken 615s/Hankook Rs2/Kumho SPT/Toyo T1R
If your on a tighter budget then you could always go to AutoZone or similar and get rotors and pads.
Clean up you calipers. Get all the brake dust off them.
Integra (exc. ITR) calipers are the same as Civic brakes so it's not really worth changing them.
****PS. For a clean long lasting look paint the rotor hats to prevent them from rusting.
