Icon6 Best "Bolt on" for power, on a budget?

Pretty much newbie here, Got my 96 civic coupe Ex, and just did a tune up with NGK iridium IX and BWD wires, Mobil oil filter, and oil change (synthetic oil). I have done some research on the forum and theres alot of mods. Will an air intake, exhaust / headers make it a lilttle more agressive. Oh, and i dont want a fart can on my car, that is annoying! Just a faster response to the throttle with out making motor swaps and messing with internals. I think the engine is a SOHC Vtec, according to my research.

Ps. pics were taken before the tune up. its Much cleaner now.

Aside from turbo, trying to improve a D series is like polishing a turd. It's more logical to put a B or H series in. I'm kicking myself now for staying B, I should have started built a H/F series hybrid (AKA G23).

You are really willing to spend $1300 on new I/H/E to add a negligible amount of horsepower to your SOHC d?

There are only two ways to make power out of a D series-Boost it or swap it.

Just my .02cents

You can get cheap non-brand I/H/E. Should cost you around $300 for all three together.
You won't feel much more power from it but it will sound nicer. Hahaha.

come on a ebay header, intake should free up some power. maybe 10hp then and some nos(50 shot) would be a great car if he dont want to swap out the motor. maybe later turbo the sohc and it should run with the best of them oh and u will need a better clutch.

Do some shitty $200 CX/HF manifold turbo setup and save your cash for a better setup.

save 2k, boost it, and you'll be at ~200whp (faster than your typical stock B)

save 500-600 more, build for boost, and you'll be at 300 + whp (faster than any NA build B, K, or H)

If you are willing to use the money, get the eBay turbo kit and make sure to get it Dynoed.

get more ignition stuff
get a good 2 1/4 inch catback muffler
some headers to match
a nice cold air intake set up
and a cam upgrade
and you'll have a little over 50 more horses
about 180 hp
not bad for a street car if you dont want to boost (just wastes more gas)

That would cost you a little less than an eBay turbo kit.
It would only give you at the most like 30.

some people just like NA
not everyone is a boost freak
and yes with a good tune all the mods I listed do make more than 50 hp because i've done that before
on an American y8 motor just like that one

Show me proof that you gained 50 wheel horsepower from doing those mods.

I believe there may be some truth to this, apprantly hes running 2 Headers on his I-4 cylinder Honda, That must be the secret to his extra WHP. Damn, I am heading to the garage right now to see if I can rig another header on the side of my engine somehow.

Maybe he took off the bottom peice of his original header, then bolted on another top piece from a different header, then welded on pipes so he can have a quad exhaust through the back?? Sounds about right to me.

I got my y8 years ago and i was the only guy in town with an American y8 motor
so I was pretty happy
I always got the best gas
and my crx tested at 180 hp back when i had it with the y8 motor
lots of electrical work to make this happen
i tied my brothers honda integra a few times with it
but his was stock b18c5
