Default Best 92-95 suspension under $4,000

I plan on building up a 92-95 hatch. I think the motor is chosen, and some nice interior touches to match.... but what about the suspension? Say $4,000-4,500 is the limit

I've heard of going the ITR suspension route, WHERE WOULD I BUY THAT?!? And what are the advantages of that than say modding the hell out of the stock suspension.

I mean if i do get the ITR suspension, i'd still plan to get A'pexi or Zeal coilovers, so whats all the hype about getting an ITR suspesion? so you can have 5-lugs? yipiie Obviously i'm not well informed on why the ITR suspension on the 92-95s are so great, because i keep seeing them being done.

And yes i've done a search
Thanks

i heard that the HKS Hypermax (japan) is very good...it's about $2,000...a lot of people say the Apexi N1 coils are good...but i've heard some people having problems with those too...what would everyone else recommend...?

Hmmmmm,
So what parts are neccesary to get if i get the GSR suspension for my car considering i'm getting aftermarket:
Coilovers
strut tower bars
F/R sway bars

I figure just the front and rear brakes (considering the CXs don't have disc rear). Personally i don't see a big deal in the ITR suspension... is it done simply because of the exclusivity? 5-lug, ooooo As far as i'm concerned, thats 1 less lug to screw and unscrew, hehe. Thanks

I agree about the whole five lug thing. Big deal.
But, you do need to swap rear trailing arms to fit the rear discs if you have drums. Find '92-95 civic si, or '94+ 'teg. Those will work. http://www.fastbrakes.com is good place to start. You'll also need lower control arms(front and rear) from an Integra or Si(5th gen.) to fit most swaybars.
As far as $4000 to blow, what are going to do with the car? Road race, street, drag, etc??? Figure that out first. Apex N1's are a great "all-around buy if you've got the coin. Aluminum, good quality, slick adjustability, and not super stiff. My Koni yellows on my hatch are stiffer on full stiff than my friend's ITR w/ N1's at full stiff with similar spring rates.
Hope this helps.

yea all you really need is the rear trailing arm and the disc/caliper assembly...brakes lines and stuff may also be needed....simple conversion do it yourself...

ZEAL SuperFunction is overkill for a street driven car, topnotch quality and performance, JDM yummy and purdy to die for... so, hey Mr. UberBudget, go for it!

Default Best 92-95 suspension under $4,000 (HighTachB18)

the infamous type-r five lug not worth a lick. gsr suspension is identical except for the five lug hubs.

for under $4000 you should get almost anything to suit your flavor. personally i would go with jic-magic sfII coilover, do-luck crossbar(goes across the floor board behind the front seats), suspenson techniques rear sway bar. as for the front sway bar change your lower control arms from a 92-95 ex/si civic including del sol's and use the factory sway bar and upgrade the brackets and endlinks to urethane(non ex/si models did not come with the stock 21mm front sway bar). sometimes utilizing what's already there is better than buying top end parts. front strut bar go with neuspeed because of it's 4-point sheet to sheet metal construction. as for the rear upper strut bar you should go with skunk2, benen or mugen. front lower tie bar go with jic-magic it's solid, one piece which reduces flexing unlike other bars like dc. rear lower tie bar jic-magic again for the same reasons. a company in japan called j's racing has a bar that goes across the upper shoulder rear seat belts to prevent flexing on the upper rear part of the chasis(a company around the san francisco area is their u.s. distributor. sorry i don't know the name). as for the brakes you should go with a full integra brakes front and rear(it doesn't matter what model as long as it's integra 90-01 remember to also change the brake master cylinder.

if you have any other questions or comments let me know via email.
good luck and have fun

I have full GSR suspension+sway bars with Tokico 5way struts. Just upgrade the pads and lines. And buy some good tires. This could be done for $1000. Then invest in a driving school. What good is $4000 in suspension if you can't drive?
Just my opinion.

just to throw my 2 cents in (cuz I'm at work and I'm bored) if you wanted to do the rear disc coversion without going the Integra route (or if you couldn't find the parts like me) the trailing arms from any 92-95 EX or Si with rear discs would work. For that matter, all you really need is the spindle, not the whole trailing arm. It's just a lot easier to find all the parts you need at a salvage yard trailing arm and all together, and the swap is much easier by using the trailing arm. As for suspension, $4K is way out of my league for suspension (I don't think I have that much invested in every mod so far on my car!) Good Luck.

but what about the suspension? Say $4,000-4,500 is the limit
ITR 5 lug conversion (NOT for looks, for the damn brakes...)
RG (Racing Gear) 12k/10k springs, 5 way adj coilovers
goodridge stainless lines
if you run a real track, get different front pads (hawk, etc)

all this will ring in about your budget. it's what i had, and it will work perfectly.

Get a fastbrakes kit. Much cheaper and much more stopping power than stock ITR/CTR brakes.

Get a good set of full coilovers. A good set of sway bars. You'll be set.

The dude can drive! He currently owns a 95 Twin Turbo RX7. Its a very bad car. Apex coilovers and the whole 9. Ive been trying to help him out with his decision. I told him about the fast brakes. Lets just hope he goes with the set up!

If it were me clint i would go with...
Zeal b6 coilovers
Benen Bars
Comptech sway bars
Earls braided lines
Fastbakes Wilwood upgrade

Good luck mann. Hitting up Honda-Tech theres alot of good info here...
