Belt tension - too tight = crank seal leak ?

Re: Belt tension - too tight = crank seal leak ? (alotawatts)
No it wouldn't...
But overfilled oil pan would...
Improper use of oil pan liquid gasket (after a rebuild) would do the leaking also and that looks like the rear main seal leak...
But if this is the question about the belt only and not "leaking problem" related, overtightened belt can cause:
- alternator damage
- P/S pulley warpage
- A/C tensioner damage
- and of course, the belt can very easily brake
Do not overtighten the belts in any way...

I would think it COULD cause the crank seal to leak, but it would be a little unlikely. I will however cause an increase in wear on the first main bearings.

Going to do the ultimate thread revive. Yes, I've found out the hard way. An over tightened belt WILL cause a crank seal leak.
