Default Belt Changes

So I'm aware that the water pump is recommended to be changed along with the timing belt. And I just hit 175k the other day so I'm gonna replace the timing belt A.S.A.P. as well as the water pump I guess.

But about the other belts: A/C, P/S, and alternator. Do they have to be changed as well? As far as I know, I don't think any of them have been changed throughout the 175k lifespan on the car so I'm just wondering if I should or it's just a waste of money.

By the way, car is a 99 ex ( d16y8 ) completely stock.

It's never a bad idea. You can check the belts for dring/cracking etc. All three belts usually come up to less than $20 anyway. It sure beats having a dead battery, no power steering, or no A/C if one breaks. It will usually take the others with it anyway.

I myself would do it just for the peace of mind.

Yeah I figured if the car's gonna be down for a bit to change the water pump and timing belt, might as well change the other belts and make it convenient.

Cool. Thanks .

Actually I know someone selling all 4 belts for $50 for all + shipping and then gotta buy the water pump. Hopefully he'll still have them by the time I have money.

But yeah, someone else said since I have to take all the belts off to get to the timing belt, might as well change them all.

you sure the t-belt has never been changed? it was sposed to be done at 105,000 miles and then not again untill 195,000.

don't forget to do all of your front engine seals when you do the belt. if they have 175,000 on them and they aren't leaking yet, they will be soon.

good luck
