beefing up tranny?

I know there are numorous wsy of improving the strength of the engine. Pistons, rods, sleeves, machining, etc. But are there any ways of improving the strength of the tranny? Maybe something that will reduce the damage that grinding while shifting will do? Thanks

Thanks for the quick reply. I know about synchromesh, I was looking for something more substantial.

ditch your short shifter and learn how to shift https://honda-tech.com/forums/images...s/emsmilep.gif

but seriously you can have get a tranny built with carbon syncros and have the gears cyrotreated and shot peened. or you could buy 2, 3, maybe 4 or 5 replacement trannies instead. (i don't know how much it costs but i do know it isn't cheap)

also if you're driving around the street with a stock motor and a something like a 6 puck clutch, maybe change it out for something less aggressive that could still do the job just fine.

i've been driving with a 3rd gear grind for months now. i just double clutch to 3rd to bypass the syncro and it's holding up great. (knock on wood https://honda-tech.com/forums/images...es/emdgust.gif)

well...if honda trannys can stand up to the 500hp beast.....i really don't think you are gonna have a problem

best way to reduce damage from grinding while shifting is to learn how to shift.
for the most part,Honda trannys are able to handle a lot of power-more than 99% of street cars will produce.there are plenty of very fast Honda drag cars using stock trannys with the exception of aftermarket LSDs.

Honda trannys are sickly strong, you don't have to do much to beef em up. PERSONALLY I found the stock shifter in my SI to be very rubbery and vague feeling, so I went with a skunk2 short shifter, paired up with some GM synchromesh and a quaife and it's a great running setup.
