Bearing Interchangeability 93 Civic Dx Tranny
First car, lots of work.
My question is this:
Are the bearings interchangeable for the p20 A000 transmissions that are on the DX and LX from the 92-95 gen?
The story:
I had input shaft bearing issues with the stock transmission on the car.
My cousin sold me a transmission from what he claimed was an Si from the 92-95 gen. Turns out that it wasn't. The identification numbers on the tranny are those for the 92-95 DX/ LX. The only issue is that i don't know whether the transmission came from a DX or an LX, and if it will make a difference when purchasing bearings.
I bought the bearing that rests on the top of the mainshaft because when I split open the old transmission to see what was wrong, that was the first one I checked -- it was definitely damaged. Naively, I assumed that was the only damaged one rather than going down the stack. Turns out the mainshaft bearing is at the bottom of that shaft. I want to replace everything while I have this out.
The Honda dealership here doesn't seem to be helpful in ordering the correct bearings, and the serial numbers on the bearings are helpful only for ordering from a bearing manufacturer-- I'm pressed for time and Honda can get the bearings in quickest.
Short version: If the bearings are the same for the DX and LX transmissions from the 92-95 generation, then I'm in business. All I need is confirmation.
I tried to find this on the site-- apparently the goto person, Mistabone, is no longer active on here so I couldn't private message him.

It's the same transmission. If you want to compare part numbers in the future check out the hondaautomotiveparts.com or similar dealer sites.

Honda online part stores are the best place to compare part # it can be interchanged or not. They give you a list of cars that its compatible with. You just need to confirm the location of the bearing.

For the 92-95 series manual transmissions the bearings are all the same with the exception of the EX/SI B000 casting stamp casing, that one has the "big" bearings which I think is the differential bearings but don't remember off hand.
As for the main and counter shaft all those bearings are the same regardless of CX/DX/VX/HX/LX. I believe the EX/SI shares the same shaft bearings just different differential bearings. Except, I don't recall an HX or LX in 92-95 however I have heard the S40 (96-00 d-series manual transmission) follows the same rules, the change being steel shift forks over the 92-95 aluminum shift forks.
Maybe 94EG8 will pop in and clarify exactly, he knows these trannies quite well and corrects me all the time.
