Default BBP 4-2-1 header review (cheap Ebay brand)

I needed to replace the cracked noname 4-1 header on my 2000 Civic Si. I was debating between a quality new DC Sports header for $300, a used quality header, or trying out a cheap Ebay header. Funds were tight, so I went for the cheap new one.

Got this BBP 4-2-1 1-piece header for $76.95 shipped. (that's freakin cheap)

I found few mentions of this "BBP" brand out there with mostly positive things to say, but nothing here on Honda-Tech. So:

Quality looked ok enough out of the box, but the flange and ports could have been a little smoother; a quick job with a $7 Harbor Freight rotary tool helped a lot. (see pics below)

Fitment was "ok" enough. It didn't go on perfectly smooth like other DC and Comptech headers I've had on other cars, but was close enough to wrangle it into place. I was able to install it without removing any of the AC stuff/fan on my EM1. The main issue I had, this being a one piece header, was getting it onto the head bolts AND the 2 lower support bracket bolts at the same time. It was .25-.5" shorter than the noname header I had on the car, but I don't know if that one was the correct length anyway.

I've had it on for a month, and no complaints so far! I am pleased, and I will definitely update this post if it fails/cracks/whatever.

Ebay search for BBP headers:

What's the diameter at the collector? Can you get inner and outer diameters?

Looks a lot better than the OE manifold.

Like most aftermarket headers that aren't "JDM" and 2.5" ID at the collector this one is STOCK sized and a direct fit.

Any chance of a ground clearance shot if your still rocking this header?

Was the header sold as being for a B16 or B18? B16 headers are shorter to account for the shorter deck height. Just something to keep in mind.

For $76, that's not bad. I had bought a knock off from eBay and had to cut and wrestle it together before even installing it since it wasn't a normal 2 piece, the pipes slid into eachother and due to welding, it shrunk two of the pipes.
Basically, you get what you pay for. Sometimes, it's not worth it, but sometimes it's tolerable for the price.

Good luck, I hope it holds up for you.

I tried to take a pic, but it wasn't too clear..

This header doesn't even sit as low as the oil pan on my B16. So "very very good" ground clearance.

This header was listed as B16-specific, and it does look to be that (close to the oil pan).

I wouldn't buy a cheap 2-piece. I had to return a Megan racing one once. That extra joint is just 1 more thing that can get screwed up.

This BBP 4-2-1 1-piece has held up great. two thumbs up.

How much space is there between header and oil pan? I want this header for my ef b18c.. Looks like it will have good clearance.

I just put this header on a B18C and it barely clears the oil pan (maybe .25"). So it works, but I wouldn't want to run like that long term.
