Default Battery relocated.... now want extra safety

Ok, I relocated my battery to my trunk and I'm making a little plywood box and wrapping it in carpet this weekend. Just one question is that I want to put a circuit breaker in the 4 gauge wire running from up front to the battery in the back, god forbid that wire ever got pinched, bye bye car, which amp circuit breaker is an ok one to have for the extra safety of having the wire running thorugh my car? Thanks for the help again

Just to let you know 4ga wire should fit all along the top of your car. Hopefully it's an EG and not cloth. If you pull of the handle above the window and pull everything back 4ga fits through there and can run all the way back.

Just a heads up if you dont know where you're puttin git.

eg is refered to as the 92-95 civic, and ek is 96-00. Also as far as amperage i am not to sure, i knw that is has to be larger than 30. I tried that. And i would go to disount and get a battery box, that way it is vented and it looks cool as well.

Oh ok.... well I was gonna search around for a nice battery box but I decided to go with the plywood wrapped in carpet because I want to blend it in so its not too obvious

If you do that then i would put it under the carpet like where the spare would go.

Well I would have done that because there's a lot of room down there but I got that big *** yellow top optima battery, plus that little extra space in front of the tire I'm gonna make another cubby to make a custom toolbox, I also have tools in my car and don't want them seen, i'm a freak with causally hiding things and making it really nice and neat but cool looking by different designs

my miata has the battery in the trunk, and there is no fuse or curuit breaker in mine. just wire it up safely. or go with some extra thick coated wire.

Yea I probably wont waste money on that than, the coating is pretty thick and it isn't running anywhere where it'll get pinched or anything, just wanted to play it safe

whenever you relocate your battery. you need a cut off switch, and an approved battery box.

if you really wanted to go with a fuse look at your main fuse under the hood and see what that is and either go above that or stay the same, and just make it so that it has to go throu that first before traveling throu the car. the main fuse is one of the first things the power goes thou anyways i believe.

hope that helped some more

the main fuse does not power the starter. needs to be more than that for sure.

I've wondered this for a long time now.

this may have been covered, but yes, get approved battery box, and does your bat need to vent? if so... you are limited as to what you can do to cover or hide it...

Its the yellow top optima battery, doesn't need to be vented and doesn't need a battery box, can be mounted sideways, upside down and everything else.... I'm still trying to figure out the fuse thing to, I had digital volt meter running from a power wire using a 60 amp and everything was fine. I'm gonna mount the breaker or fuse under the hood so it hits before it runs through my car.
