Battery light constantly on, where should I buy an Alt from?

My battery light started coming on today and now it stays constantly lit. I also notice my cluster lights are dimmer and so are my headlights. So I was a good nub and I searched.....and I guess my alternator is going bad. I am going to AZ tomorrow to have it checked out so my question is this: Where should I get the new Alt from? In addition, should I replace belts while I am in there?

are you even sure you have a alternator belt on there

Ok, how tight should I make the new belt?

Until there is no slack, but not so tight it can't spin.

is there a way I can manually spin it? I was loose before (bad squeak on a cold start) so I loosened the bolt holding the alt and put a wrench in the space, pulled back as hard as I could (to tighten the slack) and tightened the bolt for the alt back down. Now it is so loose it is not even catching (suprised the belt is still on).

If its that loose, its probably not your alternator, its just the belt. Tighten it the same way you did before.

Think I should put some blue threadlocker on there?

You shouldn't need to. Use a breaker bar or a long pipe so you can get leverage and tighten it down.

yeah dont buy an alternator if you dont have to. it would be a waste, just try and get that belt tighter
