Basically Stock 00' Civic EX

Basically Stock 00' Civic EX
What would be a relatively cheap way to buy a few things to increase HP/torque in a stock 00' Civic EX? Like a few smaller parts, etc. that I could buy to start with. I'm even thinking about looking into an Integ VTEC for an engine swap since that seems like a common way. Thanks in advance.

maybe 3-5. Barely anything. You have an EX, you can get a little more than a non VTEC but still not a whole lot. I/H/E might get you 10-15whp at most.

For power, there's not much you can do. You can try researching up on turbo setups, there's budget builds out there that you can find.
If you want a swap, I'd go with an LS just cause it's pretty cheap. But that's me of course.

CAI won't do much, wastes of $ IMO.

Not exactly cheap, but if you think that is cheap, also consider boosting your current motor.

weight... that's the biggest thing holding the EX back.
extras add up quick, power everything, sunroof mechanism... and so on. the good part for your case, you get to pick which things you are willing to get rid of (where as with a DX you have to go find the things you wanted but didn't get...)
you've got the best factory D-series manifolds honda ever sold in the us, start there. you can get a chip, intake (cold air or short ram with heat deflector box) mild exhaust upgrade; don't spend too much here. the difference with a mostly stock civic between a mid-grade kit and the super high-end JDM-spanker won't be noticed.
enjoy!

what i would do if i just got into the game now.
hind sight is 20/20
i would start with an alarm stealth installed. i payed 500 for alarm and install @ a best buy far away from where i live.
then i would do the suspension and upgrade pads fluids and a new set of blanks along with a radiator and slim fan maybe detachable steering wheel.
by this time you might need tires so rims and tires are in order...
all while i peace together parts for a solid DIY FI kit.
or a bolt on edlebrock turbo kit or even a fullrace kit and have it tuned with a p28 on a dyno . your pick
ohh and i would buy a couple short blocks cheap, down time insurance
EDIT:
forgot the most important thing....
if you plan on racing see the rules for the class you will be competative. and take your time dont rush
