Default BANG, the death of my driveshaft.......questions

hey guys,

so i pull out of this road on my way home from work yesterday, and i am greeted by a loud bang. Thinking i broke my driveshaft(and the fact that my car wasnt going to move under its own power) i role to the side of the road. Listen for about 10 seconds, reach into my front, passenger wheel, and VIOLA, my driveshaft is nice a loose with plenty of play.

Well once i got it towed, i jacked it up and see it is seperated where it connects to the hub. I pull back the boot and a pretty ball bearing falls out.

So, anyone have a diagnosis? Im guessing ill have to replace the shaft. aside from the tool to remove the ball joint, do i need anything else?

I have never done this so any info i appreciated!!!

Thanks guys

Mike D

Where are you located at? I can tell you how you would normally do it. But I will tell you right now that you have to have a BALL JOINT seperator, 32MM socket. And if you broke it in half. A pipe wrench and a friend. Because once you get ready to take that 32MM axle nut loose you are just gonna turn the tire since it is not being held by the tranny anymore.

do you have rims with centercaps?? JUst take out the centercaps, put the car on the ground, and step on the breaker bar- easiest way to do it

take a long stiff metal pipe and lay it through the lugs (with the wheel off) as you turn the 32mm nut the pipe will hit the gound and stop. then you can give it hell. This is how i have done drive shafts 3 times with no problems
