Ballpark Compression Ratio of a B18C Type R
hey,
i have JDM type R B18C (prolly a 1996) and i did a compression test on the engine and had some numbers.
i was wondering how much CR should i be getting normally if the engine was healthy..
i managed to pull 200 from the 4th cylinder and 190 to 195 for the 3rd and 2nd cylinder and 210 for the 1st cylinder
cylinder configurations as follows
[4] - [3] - [2] - [1]
internals are all stock. (or so it seems as i've never torn it apart and previous owner did not mention anything)
i do believe that 96-spec ITRs have a slightly lower compression ratio than 98-spec ITRs.
anyone? Thanks!

Re: Ballpark Compression Ratio of a B18C Type R
Before anyone else does
SEARCH
My USDM R engine registered 215 across the board when it was healthy...I believe that motor is supposed to be 10.8-10.9:1 or so if I remember right....Im guess your early spec R motor should be about the same fresh...a little leak down now should be expected
best of luck

Re: Ballpark Compression Ratio of a B18C Type R
i appreciate your answer but i just wanted to compare real world numbers with the car.
i know the stock numbers but i want to see how others fared with a similarly aged engine.
thanks though.
i do search.
