Default balljoint and support bar thing help

long story short. i need to get my trans out so i've been taking apart my car and i can just about drop the tranny except for this

somehow the other side basically just fell out w/ a little pry from a screwdriver

so i thought...might as well get a fork and use that....nope

bent

mangled on one side

mangled on the other side

and then a stress crack down the center

so please....i already destroyed the boot trying to get it seperated and i don't want to replace the whole ball joint if i don't have to so please someone give me an idea on how to do it. i've trying crowbar, the fork that broke, heated it w/ mapp gas, and used a big *** hammer and still nothing. someone please tell me you know a trick or something to get this off...like i said the other side took literally 5mintues or less.

jesus...i know how you feel, the only way i got mine out was to use this puller thing the dealer has (my bro is a tech @ honda) visious little thing. anyway, the way i USUALLY get mine out is to bash that little **** (seen in pic #1) with a hammer really hard.

ninja edit. you need a new balljoint now :S

ninja edit #2, you dont have to seperate the balljoint to get the trans out...its a little in the way but not by that much...

i was also using a 3 ton gear puller trying to get that off...but that didn't seem to work. by the time there was a lot of pressure on it the thing just popped off. hit my friend in the hand and he has a nice inch welt so i know there was pressure but it wasn't moving. I figured that i would need a new balljoint seeing as to what i did to this one. I can get those at a Honda dealer im assuming or a napa. about how much do they run? and do i need to separate the axle from the hub to replace the ball joint?

Jump on that ****. That's what we had to do for my girlfriend's car when we swapped her clutch. I ended up smashing my thigh on the fender too, huge bruise. But it came loose.

ive had this happen to me alot, for some reason always the drivers side sticks? I have a lift, and with the car on the lift, i'll take a 4x6 and floor jack, and lower the car a bit and lift the suspension with the 4x6 and jack, take the pressure off the ball joint a bit. If you can do anything like that if your on the ground or what not, thats a help. looks like a cheapo fork too as for replacing the ball joint, it has to be pressed in, and im sure you can tell by the shape of the knuckle, you need a special tool to get in there to press it out/in. you'll have to pull the whole knuckle off, and take it to someone who can press it. so get the axel out, disconect the tie rod end, upper and lower ball joint, and all the break stuff. you've allready killed the lower ball joint, just try to get some pressure off of it, and beat the hell out of it with a new fork just be more carefull with the upper ball joint, theres no replacing that, have to get the whole upper control arm at that point.

by the way, wich side is this? i guess it's too late now, but do you have enough slack to get the axel out of the trans enough to pull it?

yes... the magic trick!!! Why people are still using pickle forks or buying that ball joint tool is beyond me...

Based on the damage you've done to the pickle fork I'd say you'll need a new ball joint... $30-50

You'll get to take out some frustration on the damn thing...
remove caliper, disconnect endlink, remove knuckle... and for stress relief, take a BFH and pound the balljoint out (watch ur fingers). Getting the new one in can be more tricky... I've seen people press them in, pound them in and air hammer them in... take your pick...

Replacing the ball joint after you get it removed is not very hard at all.

The nice thing about the tool rental is that it ends up being free.
