ball joint removal ...HELP needed
last night, the castle nut on my lower ball joint came off while driving and the entire knuckle assembly came out and left the wheel pointing in it own direction and lodged aganist the fender. good thing i wasnt goin fast or i would have lost it can god know what would have happened.
anyway no damage just that the threads on the ball joint were totaled. so i bought one today but i cant get the old one out. here is what i got, a friend lent me this tool on the left but i dont know how to use it if to use it on the at all .....
Here is a pic of the assembly
how do i take off my ball joint?
oh and b4 i forget, when i am setting the timing on the SOHC vtec fo i line up the mark (shown in green) with the pointed in blue or the cut out in red ?

Just remove any c-clip, that you may or may not have, and bash the joint out with a hammer, by whacking the stud end.
TDC is when your timing gear says "UP" and is....up.

Re: ball joint removal ...HELP needed (eg6madness)
I just did 2 ball joints a week ago on my HB, after you have the caliper off, take a torch and heat the ball-joint after like 5min, take some pliers hold the ball-joint n hit it wit a hammer, should pop out in like 30-secs, then wait till it cools off before you put the new one. good luck

x2 - its not worth the hassle of beating it out when a shop 'll do it for 20 bucks

When the 2 lines you don't have circled are parallel with the valve cover mating surface of the head, that is TDC. You'll notice that when you have your circled line at one of those 2 marks, the 2 lines will be lined up with the top of the head....
