Default ball joint boot replacement? Prothane/energy suspension

Ok, in the kits from prothane and es, i notice that they have a piece that is a ball joint boot or so it seems. Does this replace the factory rubber pos that always rips? Anyone use these? Anything special that needed to be done to replace it?

they suck!

But is your stock is trashed it is something.
they don't seal so you have to clean and re-grease them every so often.
