bald in the front, tread in the back??
so i was drivin around thursday night, and it started doing the regular florida turrential down pour, and i was hydroplaning like a bitch...my tires are stockies on 13's, like 30% tread on front right (i know i know, im a bad person), 55% on front left, and 90% on both rears. my question is would it be better to swap the better traction tires up front? or will that just cause my *** to swing around, instead of the current, "i turn and my cars goes straight"...? my last car was an MR2, so im kinda used to the assend swing around...or am i just gonna have hydroplaning issues with ANY tire...ive hydroplaned in other cars, but never this bad, anybody's opinions are welcome...and i already tried to post in the "tires and suspension" forum, said i was restricted...thanks in advance

fix your toe or alignment problem also. Unless you make alot of Right turns
and yea rotate your tires more often, like every oil change if possible.

having bald tires up front is more easily controllable, more unnerving, but controllable. good tread up front and bald in the back will give a false sense of security. there was a study on this by c&d or tire rack or something. having the tires with less tread depth up front can also give more responsive steering (to a certain point).

i guess i should've put that i've owned the car for 3 weeks and have been driving it for 1 week, (i hope i dont get flamed about "well you havent had your car long enough to drive it well...") hydroplaning is just one of those things you cant drive around. i might've rotated my tires if i had less tread on the back, but because its so drastic in the tread depths, i didnt want to screw myself, i'll prolly just switch the fronts, (as long as they're not directional of course) and when the fronts are gone, just get new ones and put the new ones on the back. thanks for 1 good reply, and yes, it's a colon polyp, thanks for clearing that up for everyone who was interested

You can hydroplane at almost any speed, depending on the tire, inflation, and the water level.
