if its stock, assuming he got nothing in the intake pipe, you should be fine. if the horn gets enough time to dry, and you let nothing possibly rust.

You should have let your head talk. Go kick your dad in the shin and tell him, whatever problems I have in my car from now on, you're going to pay to get fixed. That was really stupid of him.

Default Answer: Yes and No; Depends

It is not at all detramental to the engine or wiring as long as you remove the battery to get rid of any conduitivity of electricity through the harness and don't saturate the air box to the point of hydro-locking your motor. An often misconception is water damages electrical components; this is by far a lie. True water (H2O) does not conduct electricity, because it has no ions (+ and - charges) to complete the circuit. In order for an electrical connection to be completed, there must be both a Positive charge (+) and and Negative charge (-) touching. As an experiment to understand electricity to the fullest, touch a wire connected to the positive terminal of a battery, to a wire connected to the negative terminal of a battery. Upon doing this, you will notice a lot of heat (electricity) traveling between both of the wires, along with a tremendous amount of sparking (the wires might even become welded together). After a few seconds of doing this, depending on the gauge (sizing of the wire; the higher the gauge, the smaller the wire diameter) the plastic will probably start to melt to the floor and exposed copper will result along with intense heat and an intese smell of burning plastic. Coming back to my point, true H2O does not have ions, but unfortunately our water is not true (pure). It contains ions which will result in the possitive and negative connection and began to expose the wire *This is how a lot of shorts happen*. Now tampering with your ignition system, ie trying to turn over the car while it is saturated with water, is a horrible idea. The ions will conduct the electricity from one wire to a ground or possibly even another wire and began this process. If you tried turning your alarm on and off, then you probably are going to have a problem with this unit and it will need repair or replacement. As for the bigger picture (your car), I suggest allowing it to completely air dry for a couple of days. Hopefully you have no Check Engine codes (or at least any new), this will tell you if washing your engine costed you a piece of your ECU (ECM; car's computer) or your harness (car's wiring).

Good Luck!

It work fine.. Why the alarm not work cuz the horn is up.. The water go into the horn cuz it not work.. If it's upside down, it be fine.. By the way I wash the engine every month.. Nothing wrong..

I worked at a detail shop for 3 years. I cleaned under the hood of many many cars, unless you have no clue about cars, it could be bad, but if you dont spray directly on important electrical devices, alt. dist. ect. Then everything will be fine. You just have to be careful and pay attention.
