bad tie rod will wobble when you move the tire (jacked up of course) left/right.
You'll see a delay in the movement of the tie rod.
BTW sorry for lack of a better description.

yeah..try to move it around in the bushing..there may some movement but thats common..but far from needing replacement..alot of shops..particularly Sears will try to sell u service by such a scare tactic..saying its not serious now, but can be a problem in the future..sure way to find out..is in a few months..recheck ur alignment to see if its still good..if u havent hit anything..the alignment should still be within specs..if not..then u can readdress the tie rod issue..get a second opinion whenever possible..my dealer said Sears was full of it

Re: Bad Tie Rod? (deepnite)
I have had my aligntment done about a month ago and it doesn't seem to be that great now. I do get wobbli-ness in the steering wheel at speeds over 65mph especially when turning.
I have a camber kit now and it is progress. Because my car is so low and it doesn't correct enough camber, I will be replacing it with a Sprint Camber kit, have the tie rod replaced and do alignment at the same time and see what happens.
Thanx
